25.01.2022 NSW VRA Members from Binalong and Leeton went into the Tumblong community today and commenced door knocking, assisted by an SES team they worked together to give appropriate information to those at home, most of the home owners were watching the RFS "Fires near me" app and following the directions as advised. Everyone please remain vigilant and follow the information on "Fires near me" this is were you will get the most up to date information. Take care and stay safe #vrarescue

23.01.2022 NSW VRA Binalong Rescue Squad members for the last time have taken Rescue 4 out of the shed. She will now head for the AFP Museum for a well deserved retirement, a sad for all that have been involved with her, she will never forgotten but she will be missed, she done her last oncall job last night #vrarescue

23.01.2022 NSW VRA Binalong Rescue Squad Members completed their Advanced First Aid Refresher in Binalong over the weekend. Thank you to our VRA First Aid Trainer for the best ever course & Jan & Curly from Cafe on Queen for providing us the studio and delivering us delicious meals & great coffee. 23.01.2022 NSW VRA Binalong Rescue Squad are retiring Rescue 4 from their fleet on Saturday. This was the first rescue response vehicle in the district, it traveled in many directions to help those in need at critical times. The rescue truck was given to the Binalong Rescue Squad by the AFP in March 1983, and now is going back to be displayed in the AFP Museum, Canberra. #vrarescue

21.01.2022 Members of the Binalong and Corowa rescue squads were met by Member for Cootamundra, Steph Cooke MP, yesterday as they assisted with fire efforts near Tumut. The volunteers - NSW VRA Public Relations Officer Debra Scanes ESM, and Corowa Rescue Squad's Tarryn and Rob Slot - discussed their involvement in providing support to the Rural Fire Service and communities by means of water and food drops, and the welfare of all emergency service personnel. Community support is working... wonderfully in Tumut - thank you to all those businesses supporting and donating, it is very much appreciated. 20.01.2022 VRA Binalong Rescue Squad had training tonight (Wednesday) it was another interesting night for members and trainees. 2 scenarios were set up with life size maniquins - trapped amongst trees, logs etc. with different injuries in different situations. Discussions were had to discuss how best to get the trapped maniquins out safely and efficiently, First aid was administered, Air bags, blocks, winch, shovel, spineboards and a tirfor a were all used, all went well. Good teamwork and communications. Come along anytime and chat with members everyone is welcome. Training every Wednesday evening 7pm till 9pm at the squad shed see you there #vrarescue



20.01.2022 Announcement On Wednesday the 29th of April at 5:40 pm, VRA Binalong Rescue Squad will sound the siren on their Rescue Truck at our Squad Headquarters four times. Each time the Siren sounds, it is to honor the Victoria Police Officers who tragically lost their lives in the line of duty at 5:40pm last Wednesday 22nd April 2020.... 16.01.2022 NSW VRA Binalong Rescue Squad held another great training session last night doing Industrial & Domestic Rescue utilising both powered hydraulics and airbags, all members worked together to come up with the extrication process, both scenarios were challenging but members acomplished this and were happy with the outcomes, the squads training officers are doing a great job keeping members up to date with SRB competencies #vrarescue

14.01.2022 Last night at Training (Wed 23.04.20) VRA Binalong Rescue Squad members done a refresher on Lighting & Roof Safety Systems also Possum Proofing the Binalong Courthouse as part of this exercise, the weather was miserable but members persisted and completed the exercise. Locals watched on as operators worked their magic. No Possums were to be found or harmed during this exercise #vrarescue

09.01.2022 Last night at training the VRA Binalong Rescue Squad was visited by a Yass Ambulance Paramedic with one of their Ambulances. The Paramedic showed and explained where and what all the equipment was and used for. This will assist members for when they are assisting the ambulance officers and they request squad members to get something we know where it is. All members were able to be hands on and had a very informative evening. Thank you Yass Ambulance for participating with our training and squad members #vrarescue

09.01.2022 Last night the NSW VRA Binalong Rescue Squad hosted a meeting with Yass Police Inspector David Cowell, Binalong Policewomen Natalie Booth & REMO Paul Lloyd to discuss Emergency response and joint training. Officers were impressed with the facility and equipment that they saw. All parties will be doing joint training at different locations in the district in the future. Joint training with other emergency services is paramount, as you never know when you will be all working together, this also helps with moral within teams & forms mateship. 08.01.2022 NSW VRA Binalong Rescue Squad members received a call from Santa, his reindeers had pulled up and were having a rest, Santa needed to get to the children of Binalong rather quickly to deliver some treats. 08.01.2022 Today NSW VRA Binalong Rescue Squad member's Matt, Debra & Paul travelled to Burrinjuck Dam to do some inland waterways training and to prepare for the Warby Motorsports trials next weekend at Tumut, there was logs, tree's and rubbish floating in several locations on the dam, a good day was had by members. They also met one of the many Maritime inspectors out and about on our waterways. Members were planning to launch from Woolgarlo however found a crossing had been washed out the previous day, this is why you should never drive through flooded water crossings, you cannot see what is under the water. You may see the VRA boat out and about over the next few months, so please come up and say hello, we are happy to have a chat and help anywhere anytime #vrarescue

08.01.2022 It is that time again for our squad to intake another round of trainee rescue operators at Binalong. Would you like to give back to the community? Would you like to work with a great team of like minded people who want to assist others in their time of need?... If you would like to experience the feeling of self satisfaction that you can achieve by helping people then joining our squad maybe its just what you are looking for. You will get to experience training and operating in areas including but not limited to search and rescue, road crash rescue, domestic and industrial rescue, animal rescue and more. Training is provided and predominantly takes place on Wednesday nights between 7pm and 9pm at the VRA shed. Requirements of your application will include a working with children check and also a criminal history check. You must be at least 18 years of age. 06.01.2022 NSW VRA Binalong Rescue Squad members Debra Scanes ESM & Paul Vasey last night received their Citations from VRA Regional Coordinator Jess Holloway & Squad Patron John Pearsall for assisting at the Dunn's Road Fire, Tumut. Debra spent 13 days in EOC's & supporting emergency services & communities, Paul assisted emergency services including welfare checks. A very busy time for those communities in this area. Great teamwork and friends made during a stressful time. Thank you #vrarescue

06.01.2022 NSW VRA Binalong Rescue Squad have Officially handed Rescue 4 back to the AFP.Binalong Patron John Pearsall presented a plaque to Inspector Dean Elliot at the AFP Headquarters in Barton this morning. Rescue 4 travelled through Yass this morning on her way to retirement, many stories were told of her many years of servicing the surrounding districts. She will now join a fleet of restored police vehicles in their museum #vrarescue

05.01.2022 NSW VRA members from Albury, Batlow, Binalong & Deniliquin are pictured at the Warby Motorsports Trials this weekend along with the RFS & SES. All worked side by side over the weekend to keep the course clear and safe. The trials have now finished and members are all on there way home. Thanks to Jim Walliss the NSW VRA Liason Officer for the event, Jim has been doing this from the start of the trials and has great repour with the Warby team and everyone involved. 03.01.2022 The NSW VRA Binalong Rescue Squad would like to let their valued community members, surrounding districts and all road uses, that due to the responce to COVID-19 pandemic currently sweeping the world, a Bussiness Continuity Plan has been enacted for the NSW VRA. Until further notice, we will be unable to have any squad visits by members or the public. All events in which VRA Binalong Rescue Squad were to participate in have been either postponed or cancelled. All weekly train...ing and monthly meetings have been postponed until further notice. Maintenance and equipment checks will still be carried out with a make-shift roster in place. 02.01.2022 Tonight the NSW VRA Binalong Rescue Squad held their AGM, congratulations to those who took on the Executive positions. 2 awards were presented by the Binalong Rescue Squad Patron John Pearsall & Captain Mark Spencer, these were Long Service Certificates, Mat Job received his for 15 years and Ben Spencer received his for 12 years, Ben also received the NSW VRA Medal for over 10 years of service, congratulations to them both. #vrarescue

01.01.2022 NSW VRA Binalong Rescue Squad celebrated 50 years of volunteer service to their local communities and districts in March 2020, 40 of those years have been with the NSW Volunteer Rescue Association Inc. (VRA). Current and retired squad members along with MP Steph Cooke, VRA Co Patron Wal Lingen, Executive and affiliate members from across the state, Binalong Police Constable Natalie Booth, Goulburn Police Rescue Garry Mutton & Phil Downes along with community members attended ...the celebration evening at the "Royal Tara" Binalong. Messages of congratulations were sent from, NSW Police Commissioner Mick Fuller, NSW VRA Commissioner Mark Gibson, MP Wendy Tuckerman, REMO Trish Malone, Yass Valley Mayor Rowena Abbey just to name a few. Founding member Leon Garry was missed at this special occasion as he passed away just before the dinner. Leon was a force behind the success of the Binalong Rescue Squad with local landholders from Binalong, Bowning & Bookham behind him fulfilling a role to assist those in need anywhere anything. Squad members will continue to provide this professional service to protect & preserve life well into the future. Members would like to thank all those that have supported the NSW VRA Binalong Rescue Squad over the last 50 years, they hope that this support will continue.
