25.01.2022 Another day at the markets.... always appreciative of the comments and observations that visitors make on and about bio-art... besides- I get to create another design like this one. Who - I wonder - can identify the seed pods???

25.01.2022 Proud (and humbled) to let you know: THE DREAM PEDDLER has been submitted for the 2020 NSW Premiers Literary Award. The winners will be announced on April 27th, 2020. Ce sera, sera!
24.01.2022 This last week I spent as artist/author-in-residence at St Josephs College here in Toowoomba. Below are some progress photos of the bio-art work created during these days based on the basic symbols of Catholic Education Week: Cross & Heart I used the colors of the colleges houses to fill the hearts with, sand from the maintenance shed, plants, blossoms, seed pods from the grounds of St Josephs. Only the color blue became a challenge and I had to stretch the boundaries o...f bio-art somewhat.... namely with dyed chrysanthemums and camellias. Interesting detail to observe was the bees: they totally ignored the artificially coloured blossoms - clever creatures they are! A most special THANK YOU to all the staff at St Josephs for their support and of course also the students! Now the wind can blow it all away again.... See more

20.01.2022 I know its not Christmas yet - but I would just like to share this years organic Christmas tree with you all .... only three ingredients: sand (from the N.T. still; old and new gum nuts and dried bases of a very common daisy which flowered profusely in my garden some months ago. The blossoms have long died, the seeds have been dispersed by the wind but the little star-like bases are all thats left. Now they are part of my Christmas tree for 2018. I have donated the creati...on to the Toowoomba City Library - so if you would like to see it (again) - a visit to the library is all that is required. Time to create: 5 1/2 hours.... hours to reflect, enjoy and be at peace with Nature. What else could one wish for?? Cost: Zero....
20.01.2022 One of my favorites.... and even though the name of the little doughnuts is somewhat dubious, it is also perfectly adorable. The design was created during a stroll in the Tanami Desert - north-west of Alice Springs, approx 6 years ago. At the moment the title of this design is: Desert Swirl During a workshop a child came up with the suggestion:... Desert Cereal... Let me know what you think? On a more scientific note these little things belong to the MALVACEAE family - Sida Platycalyx

11.01.2022 This is my Isolation-Project - creating a rug based on one of my early bio-art creations called PURPLE SUN. I made it in Brisbane at the end of 2015 after returning from my world tour with My Two Blankets. Only two colours, only two species: Blossoms of the Jacaranda and the Kurrajong arranged on old bricks in the backyard of the house I was staying in at the time. The blossoms I collected early in the morning and I had to work swiftly because both types of blossoms are ...quite fleshy and luscious due to their high water content. This is also the reason why they wilt very quickly - by lunch time all the blossoms had shrivelled up in the heat. Only the photograph preserved the moment perfectly! Now I am using 6 blankets ( from various opp-shops) lots of time and fishing wire to create a rug! Watch it grow.... Finally: a special THANK YOU to Marketing Specialist Ms Amanda Lowry for providing the initial idea for this project! See more

04.01.2022 One of my earliest bio-art designs - Kurrajong Dreams. Spontaneously created in the driveway of the place where I used to live in Alice Springs at the time, I managed to take a few photos and went into the house for a moment. Meanwhile some random person reversed into the driveway and over the design..... a lesson in detachment. Enjoy.... And below is the silk scarf with the same design.... out in the desert.
02.01.2022 It might not be Christmas just yet - but the tree is finished! Enjoy!
01.01.2022 A most special day: Worked today with the students of Clifford Park S.S. here in Toowoomba to create several bio- art designs keeping the spirit of Anzac in mind. 1- Wreath made of rosemary; (Rosemary grew wild at Gallipoli; )the stalks of rosemary were pushed into the sand at an angle to represent the soldiers who stayed at Gallipoli.... 2- Australia made of seed pods of a local tree ( yet to be correctly identified) 3- Anzac Wreath made of fluffy seed heads from the schools oval representing the soldiers ready to fight; slices of banksia, representing the sun and the continuation of life; 4- Heart made of paper poppies which were painted and prepared by the students; the heart representing the love that unites and connects us, no matter what. All designs were made on sand from the schools sports ground. No money was spent. During the creation peaceful music was played, we spoke quietly if at all and we tried to remember the people who lost their lives for us. A thoroughly enjoyable experience - what a privilege for an artist! Thank you Clifford Park S.S.
01.01.2022 My rug project is growing! Please let me know which pattern you prefer: the smooth or the scaly one; thanks
