25.01.2022 We know you are SO EAGER to fill up those glass-only bins, but remember: glass still goes in the yellow-lidded recycling bin until February. If you do put bott...les and jars in the purple-lidded bin, just store it out of the way until your first collection in February. ---------- A few things to note ---------- Calendars are at the printer and will be in rate payers' letterboxes starting 18 January. If you aren't a ratepayer, you'll be able to download a copy from our website. Remove the lids from glass bottles and jars before you put the glass in the purple-lidded bin. Metal lids can go in the recycling bin but plastic lids need to go in landfill. You can leave metal collars and paper labels on the bottles and jars. Other types of glass (drinking glasses, crockery, baking dishes, windows and mirrors, light globes, etc) can't go in the glass-only bin. They need to go in landfill. If you have excess glass bottles and jars after the holidays, you can hang on to them until after your recycling is picked up next, or you can take it to the transfer stations free of charge. ---------- More questions? --------- www.surfcoast.vic.gov.au/kerbside2021

21.01.2022 -- NO CHANGES TO COLLECTIONS THIS WEEKEND -- Kerbside collections will continue as usual on Good Friday and Easter Monday (thanks to the drivers working hard on... the holidays). ---------------------------------------- Can I recycle foil from Easter eggs? You sure can! Just get the kids to collect it all together into the size of a golf ball or larger. Then it can be put in your recycling bin. We've been working hard on our foil ball already ---------------------------------------- Remember to make good use of your four kerbside bins this holiday weekend - all food scraps and leftovers go in the lime green lidded FOGO bin, including meat, dairy, citrus, onion, and even chocolate (as if there will be any of that to throw out). Find out more at www.surfcoast.vic.gov.au/kerbside2021, and be sure to download SCRRApp, the Surf Coast Rubbish and Recycling App, from the iTunes or Google Play store.

09.01.2022 Now that we've been living with the four-bin kerbside service for a few months, we'd love to know how it's going in your household. Complete the survey now: ww...w.surfcoast.vic.gov.au/kbssurvey ---------------------------------------- Positive or negative, all opinions and comments will help us understand what we've done well and where there are still challenges so we can provide extra support. One question on the survey will help us plan for the extra collection we do over summer. We will draw 20 names after the survey closes to win either a waste voucher, a bin upgrade, a worm farm or a cafe voucher (see survey for details) ---------------------------------------- Please note any comments on this post will not be counted in the final survey results.
