10.01.2022 What are the difference between wooden and Cotten wicks Bioambience offer both cotton and wooden wicks for a majority of scents offered. One of the most common questions I get asked is, what is the difference between cotton + wooden wicks...well here it is... Wood Wick - produce a distinct cracks long sound when burning, creating a calm ambience. Wooden wicks are also know for releasing fragrance quicker than a cotton wick as the wide base of the wooden wick diffuses heat ...more rapidly into the wax. Wooden wicks were inspired by a wood burning fire place + developed and developed to create a multi- sensory experience both auditory + olfactory! Wooden wicks require more maintenance meaning, you must ensure your wick is trimmed to 1/8 prior to each burn. If your wick is to long your clam will dim or even self extinguish. Why? Wax fuels the flame - with a long wick the wax will be unable to pull up the long wick. On a final note, wooden wicks done mushroom ( the black ball at the end of the wick) like Cotten wicks do, meaning they’ll produce minimal carbon build up + soot and debris! Cotton Wick - more common then wooden wicks and easier to maintain. Like wooden wicks, cotton wicks need to be trimmed prior to each burn but to 1/4. Trimming your wick will create a slower + longer lasting burn. Are lead + zinc free ( mine are any way), to ensure a safe burn. There is no right or wrong when it comes to choice of wick - purely presence!
