25.01.2022 SEASON 2020 A valiant fight by the boys in yesterday wasn’t quite enough and that spells the end of the road for @manly.marlins.rugby this year. We couldn’t be happier to part of this club. And we’ll definitely be there in season 2021.

23.01.2022 A long time ago in a far away land someone coined a rule. This rule was to be implemented by runners and athletes across the world to help them safely navigate progressive loading and prevent injury. The rule went something like this: You can safely increase your distance by 10% on the previous week... So here are the issues with this blanket rule: 1. Why does it only relate to distance? What about elevation, pace or training types? Can I do last weeks volume + 10% in one session? These all factor into training volume. 2. Adding more volume in a linear fashion every single week is actually how you fast track an injury. Even if it is only 10% increases. Learn to periodise. 3. Progression is personal. There is no blanket rule that fits every body type, athletic profile or level of fitness

23.01.2022 [MEET THE TEAM] Leigh Sargeant Strength & Conditioning Coach at Bioathletic and @cronullasharks believes that instilling skills and movement efficiency will set you up in the long run to be as robust and resilient as you can be. And youll be harder to kill. Win. Win.

21.01.2022 SEATED GOOD MORNINGS Why? Great drill for us in bulletproofing your lower back, posterior chain & hip range of motion... How? Start with a big proud chest and intentional arch in back. Keep eyes up so can see yourself in mirror and aim to get abs to bench! This exercise is a solid example of how to keep your flexibility long term and gain strength through a full range of motion.

21.01.2022 JUST KEEP GOING... Times get tough. 2020 in particular, has thrown more than just a spanner in the works. Keep your head in the game, do things that make you happy, look after your mates and just keep going.... Good times will follow. #mentalhealth #ruok #worldmentalhealthday #blackdog #justkeepgoing #livin

20.01.2022 SATURDAY CREW Its a weekend for some PBs!

20.01.2022 A MESSAGE FOR OUR BIOATHLETIC FAMILY... We dont need to outline the severity of whats happening right now. The world is in meltdown and were all in this together trying to navigate our way through. So how are we responding?... 1. Being a medical facility, our hygiene standards are always high and will remain this way with additional cleaning procedures now in play across our clinics 2. Our waiting room procedures have changed with appointments now staggered to avoid waiting room congestion and the option to wait outside in the fresh air will also be available 3. For any patients who are ill or those who have traveled in the last 14 days please contact us to reschedule your session 4. In order to keep continuity of care, whilst maintaining social isolation we will have video consultants available from tomorrow. Email or message us to arrange these. Its a testing time for everyone and unfortunately the end is not yet in sight. Please stay safe and keep training (at home) Much love, The Bioathletic Team

20.01.2022 INCONVENIENT... The human body is amazing, but it was designed to MOVE. Something that our modern lifestyles seems to be eliminating. Add a little more inconvenience to your life and see how much better your body feels.... Walk more Change your work position from seated to standing Take on a mobility routine each day Learn a new physical skill Spend less time on your phone and more time doing face to face It’s not actually that ‘inconvenient’

20.01.2022 TO OUR BRAVE RFS VOLUNTEERS... We cannot thank you enough for the job that you are doing and the job that is still left in front of you. Youve given up holiday time with your family, income and job security to put your own lives on the line to save the homes and lives of others. Selfless. Day in, day out.... We have no doubt that the ongoing efforts are going to leave your own body feeling fairly broken - aches, niggles, old injuries flaring up or new ones developing from the constant battles. Were here for you. In the same way youre there for us. Whatever you need to keep going and back up to fight another day. Our doors are open to our Manly & Taren Point clinics and payment will not be accepted. DM us direct to arrange a time. Please share this with any RFS volunteers in need.

19.01.2022 When does too much of a good thing become a bad thing? We all want our kids to be fit, active and healthy but can sporting participation have the opposite effect?https://www.bioathletic.com.au/how-much-sport-is-too-much-/

18.01.2022 CONGRATULATIONS... To @aliwells428 - a great friend and patient of @bioathletic - on notching up another WPL Premiership with @manlyvalefc Ali has just completed a successful comeback to the Premier League after baby #2, notched up her 40th birthday, beat a few niggling injuries and proved to herself that she had what it took to compete at this level for another year.... AND... as a true advocate for womens sport she was also part of the winning bid for Australia to host the FIFA World Cup in 2023. Legend. #bioathletic #mwfawpl #womeninsport

17.01.2022 Its hot. Its smoky. Its humid. Its summertime in Australia. But how exactly should you go about training during this time of unprecedented heat, smoke and pollution? https://www.bioathletic.com.au/how-to-get-your-training-in/

17.01.2022 Still got a few xrays of that broken toe from a few years ago lying around? You can now clear up the clutter and do it a way that serves our environment

17.01.2022 PACIFIC GAMES WRAP Bioathletic physio Ali Donnan and massage therapist Sarah Ellis on tour with Team Tonga at Pacific Games in Samoa. A huge effort from all the pacific nations and a massive amount of work went into it from our 2 superstars...... Theyre both back in our Manly clinic this week. @ Samoa 2019 Pacific Games

17.01.2022 [EASTER] Yep, this is how Easter is going play out. The only day of the year that its acceptable to eat Chocolate for breakfast? Have a great long weekend

16.01.2022 This would have to be the hack golfer equivalent of a hole in one??

16.01.2022 SEASON #20 . Our 20th season with @manly.marlins.rugby came to a close last weekend and whilst we didnt make the big dance tomorrow afternoon we always have a great time with this club. Thank you coaches. Thank you linesmen. Thank you ball boys. And mostly, thanks to some key people in our team who do all the heavy lifting.... Bring on season 2020! @adammacphotography

15.01.2022 31 DAYS AGO... The entire Australian population pulled together in a massive concert headlined by @officialjohn_farnham plus countless fundraising efforts to SUPPORT other Australians. Millions of dollars were raised and it was one of those times we could really say we are proud to be Australian.... Fast forward a month and weve become selfish, scared and having supermarket punch ups over toilet paper and pasta. WTF?!?! If we all work together we are a strong, resilient and caring nation. We WILL get through this. It is definitely a stressful time and the full effects are still unknown but DONT FORGET TO BE NICE. Were all in this together. Much love

15.01.2022 Our friends at James Sheedy Personal Defence Studio are running FREE sessions on a Monday night. Ever thought about learning martial arts? Dont miss this opportunity to learn from one of the best...

14.01.2022 Possibly the biggest factor impacting our health and performance. Without adequate rest the gainz of your diet and training will not be fully realised. So how do you get good shut eye for a full 8 hours at night?... 1. Get a sleep routine where you keep a consistent bed time 2. Kill the caffeine late in the day 3. Make your room as dark as possible and lower the room temperature 4. Eliminate screens in the 60 minutes before you shut down 5. Build a pre-sleep routine to prime your body for a good kip. Journaling, stretching and meditation are popular options. Nighty night

14.01.2022 E D U C A T I N G One of the best parts of our job is being able to educate people on how to move better, feel better and how to ignite their athletic potential. Last week we had the privilege to present our Bulletproof Shoulders workshop to a group of martial artists at @jamessheedypersonaldefence. The level of engagement and a genuine desire to break their own mould was unbelievable.... Heres to healthy shoulders!

14.01.2022 MEET THE TEAM Leigh Sargeant is our resident Strength & Conditioning Coach. He carries a simple ethos that instilling skills and movement efficiency will set you up to be robust and resilient in the long run.... And yes, harder to kill...

12.01.2022 THE LATEST At 9:15pm tonight, our PM ordered even more closures in our fight against COVID-19. Allied health services, in which Bioathletic is categorised will remain open to serve our community.... #wereinthistogether Note: In some news outlets it was incorrectly reported that physiotherapy would cease.

11.01.2022 AND THAT’S A WRAP... All the round games for season 2020 are done for our @manly.marlins.rugby lads and it just wasn’t our year in the Shute Shield. Thanks for another awesome year with the best group of athletes around. Bring on the finals for 2nd grade and can’t wait for season 2021

11.01.2022 Something a little deeper for your Friday night...

11.01.2022 JUST TO CONFIRM... Bioathletic is still open for business after the recent PM and Premier announcements on Covid-19. Treat yourself like a pro athlete and optimise every aspect of your performance with a trail running-specific gym program. This program uses the same techniques as pro triathletes and Olympians... to make sure your body is precisely tuned for race day, from the bounce in your tendons to the power in your muscles (everything we tend to lose in a taper!) The 4 week intensive program fits in with your last month of training to make sure your gains are peaking perfectly on race day. ***THE PROGRAM*** 4 WEEKS FOR $400 8x GYM SESSIONS 4x RUN SESSIONS DM us NOW to get started before April 15!

08.01.2022 There comes a time when we need to consider the impact this virus may have on our team and the greater community. Both Faye and Sarah would love to keep plying their trade but it no longer feels safe to continue, especially with young families involved. Our physiotherapy and dietetics services will continue as per the program.... Once the situation changes well be back. Stay safe. Much love

08.01.2022 FEELING UNDERDONE? So much can get in the way of your planned UTA prep - work, injuries, life! But dont let your race day experience suffer with lost momentum. Our programs, customised for UTA and supervised by high performance trainers, will get you floating through the distance and climbing like a demon! We tick off every aspect of UTA performance with this 4 week intensive program.... Because a month or two of lost time shouldnt ruin the months youve put in beforehand. ***THE PROGRAM*** 4 WEEKS FOR $400 8x GYM SESSIONS 4x RUN SESSIONS DM us NOW to get started before April 15

07.01.2022 [MISINFORMATION] The medical and fitness industry is full of information. Some of this information is reliable, well researched and peer reviewed. This is the information you should work with. But it seems the majority of information out there is inaccurate, fear mongering or just completely false.... Sometimes you just need to thank Aunty Doris for her opinion and start looking for better alternatives to joining her fad diet or taking exercise advice from someone who doesnt even exercise. Is it possible for women to add muscle bulk through weight training? Yes - Through getting the right information, eating appropriately and training like a badass! Is it possible for weight training to not turn you into The Hulk, help you lose weight and live a healthy life? Yes - Through getting the right information, eating appropriately and training like a badass! Dont believe everything you read. Except this post. You can believe this See more

06.01.2022 Rest is the enemy. Keep moving at all costs.

06.01.2022 BEHIND TARGET?? Its a horrible feeling - all your hard work for months over summer and an injury has jeopardized it all. Now youre not even sure youll make it to the start line. You feel frustrated and helpless? Dont panic! A month off training can leave you feeling lost but a month of focused intensive training can have you back on track again. Our program is designed specifically with the demands of UTA in mind. Its about catching up smart, not just mindless plodding t...he trails and hoping for magic. We use the same techniques that elite athletes use to prepare for Grand Finals and the Olympics. Its about perfectly timed improvements in bounce and power, peaking on race day. And itll make up for lost training time and have you brimming with confidence again. ***THE PROGRAM*** 4 WEEKS FOR $400 8x GYM SESSIONS 4x RUN SESSIONS DM us NOW to get started before April 15!

05.01.2022 WHEN SHOULD KIDS START TO SPECIALISE IN A SPORT? The theory that getting kids involved in a sport from a young age will enable them greater chance of success in later years seems to be flawed. In fact, studies show that the elite athletes of today specialised in ONE sport at a later age and trained less during childhood. But they did intensify their training and efforts in later adolescence.... Key message: Let the kids play. And encourage a variety of sports. Theres plenty of time for gold medals and world championships later.

05.01.2022 Getting consistent with good training program is the way forward, but the effects of stopping can be catastrophic for your training goals - and almost immediately. Want to see what happens when you stop training?https://www.bioathletic.com.au/what-happens-when-you-stop-/

04.01.2022 Courage. Endurance. Mateship. Sacrifice.

03.01.2022 Nothing but kudos and admiration for this legend. Simone Hayes just tackled one of the longest Ultra Marathons in Australia, the formidable Coast2Kosci, a gruelling 240km run from Eden on the NSW South Coast to the summit of Mt Kosciusko. And she notched up a cracking time of a little over 33 hours with the support of Bioathletic Sports Physio Pete Colagiuri and Massage Therapist Faye Lehane.
