04.01.2022 Message fro ADIA Disinfectants and COVID-19 The TGA has released advice on disinfectants and how they can be advertised with regards to their use against COVID-19. The TGA has permitted claims for some disinfectant use against SARS-CoV-2 and COVID-19. Be aware that, all the products listed by TGA in the above link are HOSPITAL GRADE and they can not claim disinfection on medical devices such as dental equipment. Hospital Grade classification covers only hard surfaces ex floors, walls ect.. Only class II or class IIB Medical Device disinfectant can be used on the dental equipment with the virucidal claims. Not mentioning the unknown material compatibility, when hospital grade disinfectant is used on sensitive surfaces. If you want to claim disinfection of dental equipment the label has to say Medical Device class II or IIB. Check the efficacy against the enveloped viruses, if you want to comply. READ THE LABEL!
