18.01.2022 One of the many services Biodiverse Environmental provide is Fauna Spotter Catcher services (FSC). Our team of experienced FSCs work to minimise the impact of vegetation clearing from development on wildlife and native habitats. Of particular concern with FSC is mitigating the effects on Endangered, Vulnerable and Near Threatened (EVNT) species and habitat-reliant native fauna. FSC is done through the on-site detection, identification, capture and relocation of wildlife fro...m pre-clearance construction sites, such as this sugar glider we relocated recently. Part of the process also includes identifying and marking significant habitat and habitat features prior to clearing. 11.01.2022 Have you noticed little ovals neatly cut from plants before? This is actually the amazing handiwork of the Leafcutter Bee. They are one of the most fascinating bees in Australia! The Leafcutter Bee snips a neat circle or oval from a leaf. She will use these leaf pieces to weave tiny cradles for her eggs inside her nest burrow. Our Leafcutter Bees are in genus Megachile and range in size from about 6 to 15 mm. They belong to the family Megachilidae and are found all over Austr...alia. The Leafcutter Bee always cuts extremely neat circles and ovals, unlike caterpillars which leave irregular holes in leaves. They take the pieces of leaf back to their nests which are in burrows in the ground or in a narrow crevice. 04.01.2022 A Short-eared brushtail possum being released. These guys are found in forests of SE Australia extending from SE QLD to around Newcastle NSW. They are a stocky possum that grows to 50cm with short round ears, strong claws and a bushy black tail that narrows towards the end.
