23.01.2022 End of the road for this old girl. Will always try to repair where financially viable but some jobs are beyond even us

22.01.2022 Scary what some tradies call professional workmanship. Found this little beauty this afternoon.

22.01.2022 I know that with the ever increasing popularity of TV Home reno shows that a lot of the ideas shown are brought into our day to day life's. However one such trend is to box in your outdoor air conditioning units. Please Please do not do this. I have attended a few such cases in recent months and the outcome in every instance has been an expensive one for the home owners. Boxes such as those show do not allow for adequate air flow and at best will result in your system failing on a safety circuit or worse case scenario as with this customer condemning of the system as damage was beyond economical repair.

17.01.2022 At Birchalls Air Con we are proud to be qualified refrigeration engineers and hold all relevant licences. You wouldn't ask your local plumber to service your car or electrician to cut your hair why risk paying them to service or install your air conditioning units.

14.01.2022 Few more nasties we have come across lately. Junction boxes crammed in to the cavity and mains power supply joined using in line crimps. Both these jobs failed as water got into the joints and thankfully tripped the safety circuit. Picture 3 was not so lucky with both cables and contactor actually catching light before the power tripped. Picture 4 is just pure laziness on the part of the installer. Leaving pipe work like this will reduce the efficiency of the system and could lead to both power issues and water leakage into the ceiling. Unfortunalty this is not an isolated incident with too many installers caring more about the profit margin and not the workmanship. They rely on the fact that very few home owners will actually get up on the roof and inspect their work.

12.01.2022 Just occasionally it doesn’t take a 4 year electrical and 4 year refrigeration apprenticeship to realise what’s wrong with a split system.

02.01.2022 Found this little beaut the other day when removing an old wall spli. Original installers had drilled straight through the flue for the working gas heater below. This will have meant that over the years dangerous Carbon monoxide will have Been leaking into the house fortunately everyone is ok. New split system install was completed and the gas heater isolated until arrangements for the flue to be replaced have been made. Please everyone work like this can be deadly make sure you use professional cert 3 installers for your air conditioning installations.
