13.01.2022 Mega tick for my self and the many birders that twiched the Nordmann's Greenshank at Cairns Esplanade in the first few days of the New Year. One of 3 sightings ever in Australia and the first on the East Coast. A rare bird indeed with only a few thousand individuals thought to be left. Photographed in Queensland, Australia.

13.01.2022 Varied Sittella at Julatten a few days back. Interestingly sittellas spiral head-first down the trunks of trees in search of food , while treecreepers spiral up the trunks!

10.01.2022 Palm Cockatoo from our Iron Range tour at the beginning of December. It has a unique territorial display where the bird (typically the male) drums with a large stick or seed pod or foot against a dead bough or tree, creating a loud noise that can be heard up to 100 m away!
