25.01.2022 apparently the great egrets not normally nest on the island. not in the clear but 3 chicks visible here



25.01.2022 finally with spring all sorts of stuff breeding. this coot family was on show today. adult feeding a chick from stuff fished from pond bottom. worlds ugliest chicks but cute at the same time

23.01.2022 went to lake belvedere today. sad to say that a new highrise now blocks the sun from around two to four pm. maybe better in summer. this is sad because it may mean that belvedere is no longer the premier place in sydney to practice flight photography

08.01.2022 not posted in a while, getting ready to move leaves little time for photography. here is a darter getting airborne

07.01.2022 went over to lake belvedere to see how the new sky scraper they are building nearby has affected the afternoon light. winter has been written off now but spring sees the sun rise above the skyscraper. so you can photograph flying birds there again. this pied cormorant has just taken off.

01.01.2022 Spotted Pardalote, nesting in a scribble bark tree Newington Nature Reserve. These beautiful tiny birds usually build a nest in a a burrow near the top of an dirt bank. They are about 8 to 10 cm long.
