25.01.2022 It's a sad ,sad week out at Birdsong,Martha and Janet are gone. For those that don't know who the Heck Martha and Janet are they were the two Mother Donkeys we had on loan from our friends at the Malakai Alpaca and Donkey Stud. Arthur and Alfie are now all alone in the big wide world so come out and give them some loving. We are all missing them terribly. The good news is that we are awaiting the birth of a new Baby for the Birdsong family, heck no, not mine and Ron's but a s...potted Baby girl Donkey who should come into the world any day now so watch this space ! Now back to business we have had more deliveries of fresh new Vegie seedlings and they are still on special for 3 punnets for $10. We have also received some new herbs in the Bush Tucker range. Our sandpaper Wattle in the driveway is now in full bloom and looks stunning we have about a dozen of these left for sale and these will be the last for the season and will sell fast. The indoor Plant and Pot room is bursting with stock of both very healthy looking plants and some gorgeous pots and bird feeders. The menu this week is outstanding with a delicious Roast Pork roll with gravy, apple sauce and crackling with our Bad Boy chips for just $12, A Vegetarian toasted Turkish Bread with Roast Vegaetables, Fetta and Mozzarella cheese oozing out also served with chips at $12, A Chicken Mulligatawny soup served with home made Yoghurt Flatbreads ( Stop it I'm back in India) at $12 and a Pond Dwellers Platter with Flathead( or is it Goldfish Fillets) Salt and Pepper Calamari and a prawn Twister with the famous Fat Boys, homemade Tartare sauce and locally grown lemon just $15 Last but not least are the good old UGLY Sausage rolls with chips for $9. Sweets this week are a Pear and custard crumble served warm with Icecream, An Apple slice with whipped cream and an Earl Grey Caramel slice to compliment the Indian soup and of course the fresh scones with Kaz's Rhubarb and Raspberry jam and whipped cream. 22.01.2022 One more sleep guys, Birdsong re-opens tomorrow after a brief break. Santa has returned to the North Pole and Clancy of the overflow is now back in his rightful place on the Thunderbox after his walkabout in the bush during the Christmas season. The Donkeys have missed their scratches and Cocky has driven us mad without his adoring fans to talk to. We have had a bit of rain so the gardens are fresh and have blossomed and flourished with Mother Natures irrigation bringing ...out their best displays. We have placed a large order with our suppliers and are hoping for delivery by the end of the week but regardless we have plenty of stock so if you were fortunate enough to receive a Birdsong Gift Voucher for Christmas come on out and spend it can be used for food or plants or a combination. Our grafted flowering gums are looking magnificent most of them covered in buds ready for you to plant and reap the rewards of a stunning show of flowers this year so get one now whilst the weather is still cool enough and the ground wet enough to ensure a successful planting .We also have some great screening trees and I have to mention the Paulownia's once you have had a Devon Shire Tea out here at Birdsong sitting under the cool canopy of our tree you will definitely want one they are magnificent and grow three to four meters a year . So pop out for a cuppa and some scones or a light lunch and some hard earned respite after the crazy silly season that we call Christmas. See more
