25.01.2022 Football SA | Virtual Celebration of Football - Wednesday 11 November 2020 Dear All As most will be aware, tonight (Wednesday 11 November) we are airing the 2020 Celebration of Football Awards, proudly brought to you by RAA Travel, on the Football SA Facebook and YouTube Channels.... Birks have some players and teams up for nominations like our Snr Womens team winner the their competition this year being their 1st season. The stream can be accessed via the link https://www.footballsa.com.au//2020-celebration-football-p - The stream will appear as a thumbnail on this page and you will be able to watch the stream without leaving the website. 21.01.2022 Following this afternoon’s press conference held with the Premier Steven Marshall, SA Health and SAPOL, Football South Australia have been advised that all community sport is temporarily suspended as of midnight tonight for a minimum of two weeks. Football South Australia has suspended all internal training effective immediately. The NPL, State League 1 and 2 Finals Series is suspended in line with directions along with the Grand Final Breakfast scheduled for Thursday 26 Nove...mber. Football South Australia will continue to monitor the situation and work with relevant authorities and take advice and continue to update the football community as information comes to hand. #Birks

04.01.2022 For the first time in nearly 30 years West Torrens Birkalla fielded a Senior Women’s team in 2020 and promptly won the Community Second Division after a hard fought close to the season. The Birkalla top class facilities, coaches and dedication to support Women’s football paid dividends after attracting a host of players and coaches who had previously fallen out of love with the game. Charged with the role of supporting Women and Girls at Birkalla is former Matildas Assistant... and SA Sports Institute Coach Kevin McCormack supported by experienced local Coach Carl Watson. ‘Although we won our league and are promoted the best outcome by far was attracting back to the game 17 players who had fallen out of love with the game.’ stated McCormack. Our goal as coaches was to provide a welcoming, fun, friendly, player focused environment with a focus to put Smiles on Faces! Ace winger Zoe Michaels commented after having time away from Football‘I was hesitant to jump back in, but joining the squad at Birks was like a fresh new start. The team, coaches, and club were so welcoming. I love playing again and can’t wait for the seasons to come.’ Defensive stalwart Molly Duigan stated ‘I feel so very proud to be a part of this club with all the support surrounding us. It’s not often that you see the club president running the line’ Inspirational Mother of two and Captain Marie Heinrich said ‘The club has made sure we have had the best of everything and I will be forever grateful for that.’ Goalkeeper Deryth Lloyd reinforced Birkalla inclusiveness declaring ‘I fell out of love with the game but this year's been great for me since the club really works hard to include us and our team has become like a second family.’ The Seniors will be welcoming new and existing players for Come and Try sessions on 4th and 11th November with preseason 2021 in Mid-January. Everyone is welcome. SMS Kev on 0401 123 994. For Juniors the future also looks very positive with Come and Try sessions for U7’s, U9’s, U11’s, U13s and U15s to take place on 21st and 23rd October.
