25.01.2022 For Lingga’s shared reading book experience this week the class chose to read a book made by an old juniors class called Rosie Makes Damper. They loved hearing stories about the children in this story who are now all grown up! After we became very familiar with the story, Lingga spent Thursday morning retelling the story to the teachers and sequencing it using picture cards. Pauline then kindly offered to make damper with the children, just like Rosie had made it in the story.... As the children were now experts on sequencing the story, they could tell Pauline exactly what she needed: 1. Plain flour 2. Baking powder (our self raising flour) 3. Water Wanyayaru class joined Lingga to help make the damper. Everyone had a fun time helping Pauline cook! We joined back together at the end of the day to eat it all up. We were too busy eating the damper with butter and honey that we forgot to take photos. But we hope you enjoy the photos of us cooking the damper with Pauline. What a special day

21.01.2022 Yesterday Lingga class made playdough! We went to the shop to buy cream of tartar but there was a problem... we couldn't find any! Ada and Nova asked Steve if he could help us find it but he said he had run out. But we didn't give up hope! Steve knew of 2 ingredients that could make cream of tartar -lemon juice and vinegar! He helped Lingga problem solve how much of those ingredients we needed to equal 4 tablespoons of cream of tartar. We went back to class to test this expe...riment and guess what? It worked!! Lingga had so much fun experimenting with this new playdough recipe and developing their fine motor skills through playing with the playdough. We were so happy with the results that we just had to show Steve that his advice worked. The recipe for our new version of playdough is written below: 32 teaspoons of lemon juice 32 teaspoons of vinegar 2 cups of flour 1 cup of salt 2 tablespoons of oil 2 cups of boiling hot water
