13.01.2022 Dear Parents and Gymnasts, You will be aware of the emerging outbreak of novel coronavirus. Cases have been reported predominantly in the city of Wuhan, in the Hubei province of China, as well as in other Chinese cities and some reported cases in other countries. The Commonwealth's Chief Medical Officer and Victoria's Chief Health Officer have recommended a stronger precautionary approach to managing coronavirus for travellers returned from mainland China (not including Hong ...Kong, Macau and Taiwan) from Saturday 1 February 2020. The recommendation is that parents/guardians/carers should ensure that any returning person is isolated at home and should not attend gymnastics clubs for 14 days: following exposure to any confirmed novel coronavirus case; or after leaving Hubei Province. For staff and gymnasts at the club who experience flu-like symptoms AND have recently travelled to Wuhan City, Hubei province, or have had close contact with a confirmed case you are advised to: seek medical advice for any children in your care who experience fever and respiratory symptoms (including but not limited to cough, sore throat, shortness of breath, body aches or fatigue) AND have recently travelled to Wuhan City or had close contact with a confirmed case in the 14 days before of the onset of illness. Call ahead to notify the medical practitioner of recent travel; and inform your childs school who will make contact with the Department of Health as mandated. Our club may also contact the Department of Health if needed. In the meantime our club will be promoting good hand hygiene and respiratory hygiene. Cover your mouth and nose when coughing and sneezing with a tissue, or cough into your elbow, dispose of the tissue into a bin and then wash your hands afterwards. Wash your hands regularly, after using the toilet, and before eating. We will reinforce this message with gymnasts and be vigilant in monitoring their health. Please contact the club if you have any questions about this information Kind Regards Lana Herrmann Club Manager Birralee Gymnastics Inc Robson Stadium Bentinck St, Wallan, VIC, 3756 PO BOX 102, Wallan VIC 3756 E: [email protected] P: 0408 714 426 W: www.birraleegymnastics.com.au
13.01.2022 Introducing Kate Kate is one of our wonderful junior coaches who has come a long way in the last twelve months. Kate is one of our only coaches who is still a current gymnast and she uses this to her advantage (and is very useful for demonstrations!). We love having Kate as a member of our coaching team. She brings a good attitude and her infectious humour every time she walks into the gym.. and 2019 Halloween week will always be memorable thanks to Kate, her Russell Coight costume was a winner!

07.01.2022 Introducing Russell Russell has been with Birralee Gymnastics since prehistoric times... but more specifically, he began volunteering in 1999. Russell walked into the gymnastics environment with little knowledge of the sport, but was both a sprinter and gym junkie in previous times. Russell officially joined the coaching team in 2001 and to increase his knowledge of gymnastics, he began volunteering at Essendon Keilor Gymnastics Academy where he still volunteers in current days (pre-pandemic). Over the many years Russell has developed strong bonds with other clubs and continues to be of assistance at GV competitions and wherever else he can. Russell is an absolute pleasure to have around on the daily at Birralee, the rest of the coaching team and the gymnasts would be lost without his dad jokes! A true legend of our club.
