08.01.2022 Birth is such a special time (it can be terrifying and messy too) new people are coming into the world, families are being formed and new parents are being born. Who you let into that space is important. Sharing those moments with strangers is difficult but sometimes that is a necessity due to our public maternity care system (although you do have a say). For your extra support, be it a doula or student midwife, or even friends and family choosing the people that are going to support and encourage you without bringing fear into the birth space is really important. Creating and maintaining a calm, quiet and oxytocin fuel environment is key. Interview your doula, choose the right fit for you. If you don't feel comfortable with the person (doula/doctor/midwife/sister) speak up.
07.01.2022 Hi everyone it has been a while since I have posted anything and I wanted to give you a little life update. Anyone that follows me on my personal account would already know, but I have Lupus. I have had it for 17 years and for most of that time it has been pretty much a mild inconvenience but didn't cause me to much trouble. This year however, with stress, kindy sickness and just getting older, I have had several bad flare ups. On top of my usual symptoms, the disease has p...rogressed and dished out severe nerve pain and numb feet, dizziness and fevers. All of this has meant free time has been spent resting and due to fingers being stiff and sore making online content is low on the priority list. In doula news, I attended my first birth 2 weeks ago. It was wonderful to have the confirmation that birth work is where I'm supposed to be. I am so grateful my beautiful clients let me be apart of their journey and I look forward to my next birth in a few weeks. Anyone looking for support, at this stage I won't be taking birth clients but I have lots of availablity for classes and postpartum support. Virtual doula support is also an option. If you have stuck this far, let me know what content you would like to see in the future #doula #childbirtheducation #lupus #birthwaitsfornoone #brisbane
