16.01.2022 Nice that NICE agrees :) -Kelley http://www.theguardian.com//low-risk-pregnant-women-urged-

14.01.2022 Four years ago today, the Federal Government and all the State and Territory Health Ministers promised women better access to more choices in maternity care by implementing the National Maternity Services Plan. A key commitment of this 5 year plan is to give women the ability to choose a private midwife to care for her in pregnancy, birth in hospital, and for 6 weeks after birth, with access to Medicare Rebates. With 1 year to go, only 8 hospitals across Australia are giving ...women this choice. The link attached is the media release from Maternity Choices Australia and a link to their petition about having Eligible Midwife visiting rights in hospitals: https://www.communityrun.org//improve-women-s-access-to-hi This is an Australia-wide petition - not just to lobby Victorian politicians, but also Commonwealth and other State Health Ministers (who all meet together at Australian Health Ministers Advisory Council) and we want this to be something on their ongoing agenda. - Kelley

12.01.2022 We seem to be a bit slow to catch on perhaps?

06.01.2022 Jill Hennessy, who was elected to the seat of Altona (a local Westy!), is the new Victorian Health Minister and the Minister for Ambulance Services. She will be the one who will be responsible for commencing the pilot programs for Eligible Midwives to have hospital visiting rights (as allowed for in Federal legislation and Victorian guidelines - yet not available). Let's keep the pressure up. - Kelley https://www.facebook.com/RespectOur/posts/790573741002362:0
