23.01.2022 Christmas in July, anyone? Weve been getting creative here at Bite Society, with todays masterpiece being this delicious Rocky Road! Here is our *really rough* recipe! ... Ingredients: 3 blocks of your favourite chocolate Half a packet of Bite Society milky choc balls (we used salted caramel) A few handfuls of baby marshmallows A few handfuls of diced red licorice (or gummy lollies if you can get your hands on some vegan ones ) A handful of chocolate coated goji berries A handful of desiccated coconut Andddd the secret ingredient... 1/5 of a block of copha! Method: Melt the chocolate and copha in a microwave safe bowl at 30 second increments, stirring often, until smoothly melted. Stir in your filling ingredients. Pour into a lined dish (the lining part is important ). Refrigerate until set. Slice into rectangles. Enjoy! Let us know if you make it! 21.01.2022 Big news! Happy to welcome our new Australian distributor Soulfresh! They'll be selling Bite in their portfolio, which includes in-house vegan brands including Nutty Bruce, Pico, Eaty and Wildly Good. We're excited at the potential, not only do they have a large national salesforce they also get the potential of plant-based foods and doing things different.... Having a distributor also makes life easier for many stockists - no more struggling to get above large free shipping thresholds, as there are multiple products that can be delivered at once. Also they have relationships with a large amount of stockists, from small independents to larger chains and of course deep knowledge in the business. For us it's a new chapter going from a direct sales to indirect model in Australia (other countries are already via distributors). This will help us grow on our mission to more accessible vegan foods everywhere, also help free up logistics cycles to help other vegan startups. 17.01.2022 Who said cardboard's boring? This week we made a leap to a new carton for our choc balls. What's the big deal?... Well for one, we reduced the amount of units from 20 down to 12 to give more flexibility of ordering - something especially smaller stockists have asked for. But the other big change is that the carton now doubles as a shelf ready pack. As in, tear the top off and you're left with a nifty display case. Not only does this let us emphasize some of the key points in the design (vegan, ethical cocoa, recyclable etc) it also let's us easily be stocked in more counters and shelves, which we couldn't before. It's also less work for stockists. Pretty excited to see how they go "live"!
