25.01.2022 Check out the blue on this guy, one of at least six Australasian Bitterns found across 65 hectares this morning. This season's Bittern-friendly Rice tally now stands at 19+, with several farms and about 350 hectares still to go. We're very happy with the results so far. It's all thanks to the efforts of rice growers and Riverina Local Land Services, supported by funding through the Australian Government's National Landcare Program.

24.01.2022 Look at this impressive specimen, one of at least 24 endangered Australasian bitterns found across 40 sites on 952 hectares of Bittern-friendly rice. We're chuffed with these results, about six times the density found at controls. Our focus now shifts to finding nests to monitor. It's all thanks to the efforts of rice growers and Riverina Local Land Services, supported by funding through the Australian Government's National Landcare Program.

23.01.2022 Just now, the first baby bittern for our Bittern-friendly Rice incentive program this season. It’s already about ten days old, due to fledge March 8th, eight days prior to the contracted ponding period. Great result, exactly what we’re after. It was a bare, dry paddock only 87 days ago, and now this! It’s all thanks to the efforts of rice growers and Riverina Local Land Services, supported by funding through the Australian Government’s National Landcare Program.

14.01.2022 Allow us to introduce you to the rarely seen, post-copulation bittern kowtow! Our ninth year studying bitterns in rice is officially underway and this season we have 952 hectares of bittern-friendly rice to monitor, plus controls. Great results so far and busy times ahead. We’ll keep you posted. It’s all thanks to the efforts of rice growers and Riverina Local Land Services, supported through funding from the Australian Government’s National Landcare Program.

03.01.2022 It’s nice to see the bitterns have read our incentive criteria for grassy banks.
