18.01.2022 If you're swapping your trackie dacks for proper pants and heading back in to work, now’s the time to check whether you should be getting a uniform allowance. I...f you have to wear a uniform to work, many awards and enterprise agreements say you should be given the uniform for free, or reimbursed for buying it. Awards and agreements also often say you should get paid an allowance for laundering your uniform. Remember there’s a difference between having a reasonable dress code and a formal uniform. Reimbursements and allowances normally only apply to a formal uniform which you have to wear to work. You can check the uniform allowance rules for your award here: https://www.fairwork.gov.au//uniforms-vehicle-and-travel-e

11.01.2022 I was expecting 2021 to be a less eventful year, regrouping, planning...refocusing. I have some unexpected exciting news and proud to share! My Business BizCore 360, has been selected as a Finalist for our Launceston Chamber of Commerce Tasplan Business Award for "Professional Services".... 2020 was no doubt a challenging year for everyone in business. For myself, it was both my most difficult year, personally and within my own business AND also the most exciting and joyous! All my energy was focused on meeting my existing and new clients needs and supporting all of them, and their businesses successfully through to the other side. Meanwhile, unexpectedly being nominated, becoming a finalist and the joy of Winning both the Bookkeeper of the Year, Women in Finance Award 2020 AND the Bookkeeper of the Year Australian Accountants Daily Award 2020. #Grateful for the ongoing support of my peers, clients and friends locally and around Australia, who joined me via Zoom. An Interview in the Business Pages of the Examiner Newspaper, shining a light on the important work we do daily, with our clients as BAS Agents, to ensure small businesses succeed. And managed to complete and Graduate the 13 Week Tasmanian Leaders ILead program, where I met some amazing humans, I now call friends. Speaking on Jobkeeper 2.0 legislation, as the Launceston Leaders on my Professional Associations, Australian Bookkeepers Network (ABN), first Australian online Coffee Club, where we talk all things CPE for our ABN members Tax Practitioners license requirements, was a real honour. Despite the responsibility of preparing and conveying accurate content in the age of constant change, combined with the anxiety from my fear of public speaking this was a completely daunting experienced for me, endured because of the kindness, support and acceptance of my fellow ABN members and enthusiastic encouragement from Leanne Lewis. Thank you Denise Twigger (#legend) Perth, WA ABN leader, for having me as a guest on your local Perth coffee club, to ease me into it and break the ice. With my heart full of gratitude, joy and appreciation for those wonderful human beings in my life (business networks, friends, family and clients included) who enrich my life, inspire and keep me sane. Special thanks to my Husband, Aidan Beveridge The Examiner Newspaper, Launceston Launceston Chamber of Commerce Xero Tasmanian Leaders Tamara-Lee Beveridge Australian Bookkeepers Network

04.01.2022 "Natira Drayton, vice-president and country manager, Intuit QuickBooks Australia, said that advisers are the hidden heroes supporting the Australian small-business community through this pandemic, often burning the midnight oil to help their clients access vital government stimulus and improve cash flow. Accountants and bookkeepers have been putting in long hours, often without payment, to help small-business owners not just survive, but in many cases, get on top of their ...cash flow, pivot and find new revenue streams, she said. The report also revealed that more than 27 per cent of small-business owners turned to their adviser for emotional support. That number increased to 42 per cent for millennial business owners". Small businesses paying for the support of an accountant or bookkeeper increased by 23 per cent compared to pre-COVID. When comparing research conducted with small-business owners prior to the COVID-19 outbreak, paying for the advice of an accountant or bookkeeper, is now the number one tip small-business owners would give to someone looking to start their own business. 02.01.2022 The Australian Accounting Awards recognises excellence across the entire accounting industry, and showcases the individuals and firms which are leading the way in the industry. Addressing viewers in his opening address, Accountants Daily editor Jotham Lian said it was more important than ever to recognise and celebrate the role of accountants in the midst of COVID-19. I truly believe that accountants and bookkeepers have risen to the economic challenge like no other professi...on standing as a critical link between the government’s stimulus measures and your clients, Mr Lian said. The accounting profession has truly embodied the Australian spirit. So many of you have gone pro bono, spent hours fielding calls from your clients, spending nights and weekends poring over complex legislation, rules and guidance material, while juggling the pressures of running your own practice in uncertain times. It is because of this that is it now more important than ever to recognise your hard work and to celebrate your achievements.
