22.01.2022 It’s my first gig in a while, but I’m playing at the Castlemaine Blues Club this Monday night, in the funky Castlemaine Bowling Club In Berkeley St. I’ll dust off my banjo and Gretsch and kick off my set at 6.30pm sharp, but I’m quite choofed to have the esteemed company of the uber-talented Anna Scionti and Bill Barber, so it should be a absolutely rip-snorter of a Monday night. I’ll whack out a few songs off the new album (yes, it’s coming before Christmas) plus a couple I’ve only just written and a stack of blues songs that have inspired me, so it’s going to be a hoot.

16.01.2022 I haven’t posted anything in a while, but I’ve started writing again & my record will be out soon, so I dusted off the cobwebs a few weeks back with an impromptu gig at 22 Hargraves in C’maine, in the corridor. So rock n roll. I’m doing a proper ‘intimate’ gig there on Sunday 2nd December at 1.30pm, in ‘Ethel’s Bar’ out the back, playing some new & old tunes & telling yarns. I’m also performing there the day before, on Sat 1st at 4.30pm as part of the opening of the ‘Transformations’ exhibition at Upstairs 22 Gallery, featuring the work of local artists Sherree Gallagher Art, @bjnailonceramics & @michaelstephengray Should be a hoot!

13.01.2022 Shocking statistic, each year untold numbers of angels plunge to their deaths from unsafe Christmas trees. Our angel fell to earth (or tiles) today & severely damaged her cranium. Love & supa-glue were almost enough, but parts of her skull were vacuumed up, so we thought this tasteful bandage restored her to tree & to her dignity. #noonegetsleftbehind #fallenangels #christmastree

10.01.2022 Hey There, I’m quite excited because my first Castlemaine gig is coming up, on Friday 6th July, at the very lovely ‘Taproom’ in Castlemaine. Come along and have a beer with me (the Shedshaker Celtic Red Ale is my absolute fave) I’ll be playing a bunch of songs I’ve written over the last 30 years (and some I’m still writing!) I might have some special guest joining me, but we’ll see, it might just be me and a very enthusiastic sock puppet. Peace.

It was meant to be for a new song and I was just warming up to record, but it was so (insert bad language here) cold that I filmed a little bit of the start of a song and then gave up and caught the train home. 07.01.2022 Finished recording & mixing my album on Sunday, with the amazing Alex Bennett at Sound Recordings in Campbells Creek. I also had my first solo original gig on Friday night, so I was pretty whacked out by the end. Thanks to everyone who’s supported my original music & when it comes out, hopefully you’ll love the record as much as I do. 06.01.2022 I’m doing at little pre-Chrissy gig with Claire Garret this Friday night at 6.30. I can guarantee I won’t play ‘Silent Night’. Should be a hoot. I was going to Photoshop a Santa hat onto my photo but I thought it would be too classy.
03.01.2022 This riff came to me a while back & I sang it into my phone (bah-da-da) It came back to me on the way home yesterday & I added a chorus & this morning, wrote two verses while waiting for my train. Had my banjo with me (as you do) & I played it a few times & thought I’d record it, so I’d remember it, as I was dressed in my daggy work clothes & beanie & wasn’t really keen to do a video. Anyway, this lovely commuter gentleman called Lou Citroen (cool name, hey?) saw me putting the mike on my phone & offered to video me, so I agreed.
