25.01.2022 This is one of those posts you just wish you never had to write.... But due to the current life events we have unfolding around us, the time has come to make it official. BJMA East Coast 2020 camp has to be postponed.... The new date will be 23rd to 25th July 2021. This will mean the following. 1. ALL PAYMENTS MADE THUS FAR WILL BE CARRIED OVER TO 2021. Business as usual. There will be no price changes between now and 2021. 2. We have more time to plan, and more time offer a camp that will be as good as two years in one! 3. By doing it this way, we are not hanging by a wire, hoping things change in time. We feel it is better to have made a call, keep moving forward, and get ready to make the most out of 2021!!! We want to thank everyone that we have consulted in making this decision, and we know it is the right one to have made. Please stay tuned for formal event changes, and if you have ANY enquiries, please don't hesitate to contact Kyl Reber on 0402465441 or email [email protected] #bjmaeastcoast #strongerasone #bobjonesmartialarts50yearsstrong

24.01.2022 Story time For those who have been around 30+yrs you might remember me wearing these thai shorts. And here is the story that goes with these shorts.... In 1989 I attended a BJMA camp on the Sunshine Coast. Soke Bob was there along with the rest of the Qld BJMA Heirachy. ... Soke Bob was showing us Muay Thai in its ferocious state. Friday night and all day Saturday we were treated to class after class of Muay Thai techniques. Then on Sunday 18 of us were asked to go for our Black Singlet. We didn't have any idea what the grading requirements were but I was 18 and bullet proof so bring it on. The ZDK Heirachy held pads for us all 18 rounds followed by 18 rounds of sparring against them. Talk about being thrown to the wolves. At the end of this epic session we were awarded our black singlets and Soke himself gave me these Thai shorts. Now with anything I receive off the Chief I treasure it and I wore these shorts everywhere - running, training and in this photo demonstrating in our local park at a festival. Now as you might see they are see through, yep completely see through. My beautiful girlfriend (later to become my wife Dee) tried to tell me that I couldn't wear those shorts in public. But who the hell was she to tell me what I could wear, The Chief gave me these. Many years later I found out from the Chief that these shorts were given out to a few people because they were not going to be able to sell them, being see through. So my sincere apology to the many people who were forced to spar me with these on, watch me doing a demo or running down the street. At least on most occasions I wore nice little red jocks underneath. See more

24.01.2022 Our sincere condolences to the Bell Family on behalf of BJMA. Alan was an integral part of Muay Thai for many years in QLD and Australia. He will be sadly missed.

24.01.2022 SO GOOD to see Sunshine Coast back up and running... AND IN THEIR NEW LOCATION!!! Well done Shihan Steve!!!!... #bjmaeastcoast

24.01.2022 Planning tips from Renshi Zoe on how to reset and get consistent with your at home workouts 1. Make a plan write down what you are doing and when (time/day) you are doing it for the week. Use a calendar or piece of paper. Be specific if you are doing a series of drills and exercises, write them out the day before 2. Tell someone! Tell a friend, text yourself, tell your pet. By saying or writing it you will re-enforce it and make yourself accountable... 3. Set out your training clothes/shoes the day before. That way its there and you are quickly ready to go. 4. Track and celebrate your success. Give yourself a physical tick or star next to what you wrote down, or shout yourself a woo hoo! You got this team. Go for it, make your plan today

24.01.2022 Important Reminder This Sunday at the Tinana State School Hall we will have our first Black Belt Training Day for 2020. These days are essential to get you ready for Senjo this year. All junior and senior Brown and Black Belts are invited to attend the training day. On this day you will meet your grade coordinator and start to work with all the other students grading for the same rank at Senjo this year.... Students wishing to grade at Senjo must complete a minimum number of training days as part of your ongoing development. Go to https://www.trybooking.com/BIZPN to book your spot.

20.01.2022 Our first Covid 19 Sunday Session. Stay safe.

20.01.2022 MTA Newsletter 11 August 2020. Nationals Sparathon Memberships Equipment Policy Anti Doping Hello everyone 1. MTA Nationals Unfortunately, we have to p...ostpone Nationals. It was set for 11-13th December. Due to the uncertainty at this time we have are postponing the event until things settle down. As a true National Championship, we have to ensure everyone has an equal opportunity to compete, prepare and organize themselves to be there. As we have no ability to confirm when restrictions nationally will settle down, we have decided to postpone the event until we can be certain everyone can train for it, travel and get home safely. The new format and structure are still the plan and we look forward to setting a date as soon as we can. QLD will run an event for QLD on the same weekend. More info soon! 2. SPARATHON This is our first event teaming up with Bravehearts. It is to raise money for victims of child abuse and is a great way to have your own club-based event but also be a part of something bigger. Get your students registered now. Even if they dont register, it doesnt really matter, get them sparring and involved. https://www.muaythaiaustralia.com.au/events/70325/ Some clubs are doing a 2 hr event and pumping out 20 rounds, others are doing a 24hr camp at the gym and sparring as much as they can. Anyone can join in. You can even shadow spa or do padwork. We will advertise a link that anyone can go to give a donation after the event. All money goes to Bravehearts and links to the MTA so we know how much we raised. Competition is growing again in WA and QLD but everyone else is still held back so this is a great opportunity to get your guys fitter and sparring more. Train for it and do as many rounds as you can. Email or call me if you have questions. It is FREE and just takes time to organise for your own club or join some clubs up. 3. MEMBERSHIP FOR ATHELTES AND INDIVIDUALS. https://www.muaythaiaustralia.com.au/join-now/ The MTA will soon be introducing membership for everyone. This is an exciting time for the growth of sport and what the MTA can offer members. It will be the major development for the future. There are two levels of membership. Athlete Membership This includes personal accident Insurance for training and competition at all levels! Plus, many other MTA member benefits. This will be required for any MTA competition nationally. From sparring days to Professional fights and include worldwide cover. Individual Memberships This is for everyone that does Muaythai and trains at an MTA Club. For Coaches, trainers, officials and participants at every level. The insurance included covers you for training, sparring, fitness and any martial art you do at your club. More information will be out soon to launch the memberships. You will receive flyers and info packs in the mail and the web page will have all the info you need! 3. EQUIPMENT FOR COMPETITION There is a new MTA policy on the use of equipment for competition. https://www.muaythaiaustralia.com.au/about/policies/ As the peak body for Muaythai the MTA must ensure our athletes are safe. The use of appropriate equipment is essential. The return to sport in a covid safe environment has changed the playing field for all sports. The MTA will soon have MTA specific equipment that will be branded and permitted for use at Nationals. The MTA will allow people to rent the equipment for the event or purchase for use on other approved events. This branded equipment will be ready by the next Nationals. For sanctioned events, the promoter is responsible for providing safe equipment that meets the MTA requirements. We are in a no sharing of equipment environment and this will remain for a long time. 4. ANTI-DOPING POLICY The MTA is extremely serious about fair play. We follow all of the federal government rules, AUSSPORT and WADA regulations for fairplay. A major factor of this is anti-doping. A new Anti-doping Policy has been developed in conjunction with the new federal government department - Sport Integrity Australia (SIA). SIA has amalgamated with ASADA and is now responsible for all things to with integrity in sport. Everyone that competes at Muaythai could be drug tested in or out of competition. That is a major protection for our athletes and ensure everyone we are doing what we can to ensure competition is fair. The fact that the MTA has an anti doping policy and does random and competition drug testing is a major advantage for the MTA and ensures our athletes that they have the fairest chance of competing than organisations that dont do drug testing. Your sincerely Anthony Manning MTA President See more

19.01.2022 These 4 men I have know for some time. We are all full time Martial Arts Instructors, friends, and brothers I felt that it was necessary to show the public that maybe some things we here and see in the media are not always true, and just to get a glimpse of what real Victorians are feeling, seeing, and taking away already from what we have come to call "Lockdown The Sequel". These guys give some real world insights, and there is only one reference to Country Music, and I didn...'t get too confused with three of my interviewees all called Matt. We all have a story. Thank you for listening, and make sure you subscribe for more interviews, and also go to the following pages to keep up to date with everything I am trying to navigate my way through, and leaving a little footprint. 19.01.2022 8 DAYS AWAY. CLUB INSTRUCTORS. If you are able to do so, get your students together in a group and do it together. You could pool the donations together and make one large one.... An amazing bonding experience, doing something that has never been done in BJMA before. If you have to do it alone, then still do it. It's going to be an amazing experience, and all going to a great cause, which could not be more relevant at this time. 100% of the money raise goes to Beyond Blue, so please lets get involved, and keep marching forward. Any queries at all please contact me on [email protected] Here is the link to make your donation. https://www.trybooking.com/BJTEQ #bjmaeastcoast #bobjonesmartialarts50yearstrong https://www.facebook.com/events/252851379362721/

19.01.2022 To my wonderful BJMA family. Today as we laid Sempai Geoff to rest you stood beside me and helped me to bear the load. We sent him off on his next journey with a chant so loud the gods must be wondering what is happening. His family cannot thank you all enough. You showed them that Geoff's life meant something to so many people. ... We are all hurting and I know it doesn't leave you but that we learn to live with it. Thank you for being there when we needed you. Hanshi Brad

18.01.2022 Unfortunately, the question that a number of you have been asking, has to be answered. After several meetings, phone calls, and discussions, the decision has been made to cancel the 2020 BJMA East Coast Senjo and Ball. Working through all our options, and playing out several scenarios, we came to the conclusion that there was just no true way to do the two events morally, ethically, legally and logistically in a framework that could retain the integrity of Bob Jones Martial A...rts as a whole. SO..... Where does this leave us?? Your club instructors will give you a full brief as to grading formats, but we will make our gradings the same date, but go local as we normally would twice a year anyway. This keeps us within our own areas, and we do not travel too far from our own circles. SENJO BALL If you have bought a ticket, or paid a deposit for The Ball, then this will be automatically rolled over to 2021, as we have already done with camp. There will be no change in prices for 2021. As we said, your individual club instructor will give the full layout of the plan, but again, the integrity of BJMA, and the well-being of our students, instructors and families will always come first. New events will be posted for each area, and thank you to everyone for your understanding. This was one of the hardest decisions we have had to make, but when we laid it out, it was the only decision. #bjmaeastcoast #itsgonnabeokay

18.01.2022 Gladstone Martial Arts Academy students back in action

15.01.2022 I have intentionally left a message regarding BJMA & ZDK's 50th Anniversary until now. Words cannot do justice to such a momentous occasion and yet I will do my best. Soke Bob and Soke Richard are the founders of Zen Do Kai and yet when it was first started I think being named the founders would have been the last thing on their minds. ... These two mentors had no idea that the system they started would mean so much to so many and that it would spread across the globe. Soke Bob is ahead of his time and there is no denying he pushes the boundaries of the martial arts. He leads by example and always has. He has never accepted the word No, to him that word is spoken by those who don't have the internal fortitude to break down barriers and make things happen. Soke Richard in his own words was the second in charge, the lieutenant ready to make sure the students follow the orders. However, Richard also has stood out making mediocrity his enemy and leading the way overseas always spreading the system of Zen Do Kai, wearing his bushido cross and always being there for Soke Bob. These two men created a system which has spread into homes in Australian cities, country towns as well as throughout New Zealand and the world. They formed another ANZAC type bond with our New Zealand Brothers and Sisters which is still strong today. My final words are simple - THANK YOU. Thank you for making my life meaningful, for giving me the strength to deal with all types of struggles, for making me a better person and in turn I spread your ideas to as many people as I can changing our society one person at a time. Lead us into the next 50 years HURRA, HURRA, HURRA.

14.01.2022 Hi All, This is a real call to arms for each and everyone of you and your families. It's time that we stood up and shined a light at dawn on Anzac Day. I am asking everyone to walk to the end of your driveway at 6am on ANZAC Day and shine a light, stream the service and show what we are made of.... Take a photo and post it on here to show our support. Make sure the photo is respectful this isn't a celebration but a Commemoration. If you want to know more check out the RSL page or https://anzacday.org.au Follow the link below and pledge your place. Lest We Forget https://rslqld.org/News/Latest-News/Light-up-the-dawn

13.01.2022 Just a few pictures to brighten up your night.

12.01.2022 To say I am proud of our BJMA family would be an understatement. When Covid 19 started to spread across the world club instructors stood firm within every community offering a place of safety and comfort. When we were told to close our doors we all opened our hearts and searched for another way to stay connected. Videos, emails, phone calls, zoom classes and podcasts reached out into every home across BJMA. ... It reminded me of a situation I witnessed many years ago at a Victorian State Camp. Kyoshi Bruce and myself had travelled down to the home of BJMA for training and friendship, which we found in abundance. At the end of one of the days we were seated around a table with The Chief other higher ranks and John Will. Just to sit at this table was an honour, and during this time John asked The Chief what was his next plan. The Chief swiftly replied that he was organising himself to take BJMA to Europe where he would be based. The Chief explained that from Europe he would deliver training into every household via a hologram of himself leading the training. John sat silent for a few seconds and then looked around the table and said "Chief if anyone else had said that I would call them a liar but when you say it I know it will come true. These last few months have seen Zoom classes delivered into houses around the world by our BJMA Instructors. We are teaching what we have learnt either directly or indirectly by The Chief and by doing this we have indeed made The Chiefs vision come true. When there is so much despair in this world BJMA Instructors are shining a light of hope and direction just as we have done for 50 years. Some would say it is a pity this has happened in our 50th year anniversary. I say what an incredible gift to every BJMA member across the world to witness our organisation proving that our words and actions are the same. To our first generation students, Soke Bob, Soke Richard, Soke Billy, the leadership group and every club instructor congratulations on being a beacon of strength and unity throughout our communities. Training for Strength Together - Always!

10.01.2022 It is with a heavy heart that I write this. On the 19th of May we lost Sempai Geoff Allen a brother and friend gone far too soon. We will miss his laughter, hi...s loud voice, his cheeky grin and his insatiable thirst for life. He will not be forgotten and the many conversations we have all had with him will be remembered forever. He has gone ahead of us but we will meet again and train together once more. Until we meet again we will stand strong knowing that we have each others back and that although we cannot see each other we will hear each others voice through our thoughts. Below are the details regarding his funeral provided by his family. A Life so vibrantly lived; deserves to be vibrantly remembered With sadness and broken hearts, the family of Geoff would like to let you know of his sudden passing on the 19th May, 2020. We express our heartfelt Thank You for your sympathies and support during this time by phone calls, messages, flowers, thoughts, & prayers. 06.01.2022 Before I write a post supporting something I always consider the affect this will have on all BJMA members. It is part of my responsibility to ensure I am not supporting something which can hurt our people and our brand. I can honestly say practicing GEM (Gratitude, Empathy and Mindfulness) will have a positive influence on you and your family. This book The Resilence Project by Hugh Van Cuylenburg is inspiring and thought provoking. It is not a read once type of book or ...a get rich type of idea. GEM requires you to do something, to practice it, to accept the well researched information and make time to include it in your life. I know our BJMA people train hard, they practice physical moves every night trying to improve on their last performance but I also no we don’t do anywhere near as much training on our mental health. So have a read, practice the concepts of GEM daily and I hope this improves your life. You can check out the website at https://theresilienceproject.com.au Enjoy Hanshi Brad Ross

05.01.2022 This was an idea a couple of blokes had (more one than the other), and I reckon it's a winner. Like so many of our events across Australia and New Zealand this year, we had to cancel the 2020 BJMA East Coast Camp. Or at least so we thought....... We are back on, in a smaller capacity (or maybe bigger!) and online for what would have been the Saturday afternoon of the 2020 camp. AND IT'S ALL GOING TO CHARITY. Beyond Blue is an amazing charity, that does amazing work, and offers support to people that at this time, need it more than ever. Every little bit helps. Check out their work here. https://www.beyondblue.org.au/ $15 per person. Pay online. There is a link below. We will pass out a link to the Zoom event as it gets closer. https://www.trybooking.com/BJTEQ The ticket charge works on an honour system. Please use that and help those that may need it more than others at the moment. All the instructors teaching are some of the best BJMA has to offer, and are all volunteering their time, and for that we are extremely grateful. 7 Instructors 40 minutes each 5 minute changeovers. One MASSIVE opportunity. Get behind it, and get your clubs behind this amazing event! #bjmaeastcoast #beyondblue
