24.01.2022 Take #2 of a reading room. This one is a more modern version. Instead of timber panelling for the ceiling, I’ve used decorative screening (swipe left for inspo pic from pintrest) using the same principle of a frosted covering as the previous reading room I created so that a shadow is not thrown downward from the decorative screening during the day and does not interfere with reading. My favourite feature of this room is the diamond shelf bookcase which would extend around th...e remainder of the rear wall and entire right side wall and incorporate the reading nook with window. I think this bookcase makes a fantastic statement and together with the dark forrest wallpaper and darker timber flooring makes this space feel cosy and invites you to snuggle up with a good book and let your mind drift into your favourite adventure or story. I am also loving the coffee table I discovered from #templeandwebster (one of my favourite online stores)! 22.01.2022 Creating a fresh look doesnt have to be expensive. For this room i’ve just used what I had around the house and whipped this up in no time at all The gorgeous doonah set comes from my lovely #lorrainelealinen consultant @pettamartintraynor The doonah itself and pillows also come from #lorrainelealinen and are super comfy and cozy as the doonah is insulated for warmth in winter and the pillows are a fabulous support for my neck which i’ve had issues with in the past. The... funky mirrored bedsides I picked up second hand - $80 for the pair!! 13.01.2022 Finally complete!! *Note:- Second photo is the ‘before’ photo!! This relaxed guest room is styled with a bit of old school mixed with a modern twist. My client lives amongst bushland and wanted the room to reflect a little bit of nature and be a warm, restful place for their guests. The frames of the cockatoo print and full length mirror have both been painted in gold enamel. You’ll see close ups of this in a previous post. This has given them a slightly aged look whi...ch ties in nicely to the bedsides and other features. Now...let me discuss the bedsides! These were originally white wooden bedsides with a mosaic mirrored border. They were very outdated but I liked the versatility of their shape. So I had an idea to have them upholstered in vinyl and have the borders studded to create a classy old school look. Brown buttoned leather chairs were my inspiration! The side table lamps are from Ikea and have dimmable LED bulbs. I loved these as their shape reminded me of an old camping lantern. I also found some antique navy books which worked perfectly as decor for the bedsides. I then warmed the room up with plush cushions and a throw and added a basket with towels for a nice welcoming touch Please let me know what you think in the comments!! 10.01.2022 I decided to use my imagination and create something fun! An open space children’s reading room with a magical forrest as a wallpaper to allow your little one’s imagination to get carried away I’ve tried to make this space feel relaxed, open and natural, letting in lots of natural light and incorporating an indoor garden bed. For the ceiling I would use a frosted covering over the top of the wood panelling so that the the timber panels won’t cast a shadow ...and interfere with day reading (swipe left for inspo pic). I’ve also incorporated a day bed with glass surround so that a green leafy outside view can be enjoyed or, if you’re lucky enough to live on hilly acreage, a large landscape view can be enjoyed and the adults can also snuggle up with a good book and a cuppa Let me know what you think! 06.01.2022 6 O U T D O O R P A T I O I D E A S F O R S U M M E R Wanting some inspo to spruce up your outdoor area? Here are a few ideas to get you started ... 1. Add some uplights in your walkways or deck so you can enjoy the ambience of being outside on a summers night. If you have a pool, why not add some uplighting around the edges or in nearby gardens to light up trees etc. You could even give yourself the option of coloured globes. Perfect for pool parties or just to add colour for those hot summer night swims. 2. Poolside lounges, beanbags and daybeds are a great idea for bringing a relaxed, holiday feel to your home. A small side table nearby is also handy if you enjoy a sneaky cocktail or iced tea 3. Keep your kitchen clean and entertain outdoors with a bbq that includes a bar fridge and sink 4. Do you dream if Italy? Why not create your own sanctuary and build a pagola or trellis and grow Wisteria or Star Jasmine over it. Set up a large table and chairs underneath to enjoy beautiful food and wine or whatever you’re into Twist some fairy lights around the trellis or pagola posts for some extra mood lighting at night time 5. Do you own a dog or live near the beach? Why not install and outdoor shower and/or dog bath beside your patio or deck? That way you can rinse off and not drag any sand etc inside and your dog can walk straight from the bath to your patio or deck and dry off in the sun! You could even have the shower or dog bath run off tank water making it very economical 6. Stuck for storage space for those garden tools or pool toys? If you have a single storey home with a slightly raised deck that has room underneath, you could build large pull-out drawers underneath it to use for storage. Dont have a deck to build off? Why not build a couple of boxed bench seats that enable you to lift the seat part and access your storage underneath. Thought I’d share something a little different with you all This is my own project I’ve been working on for a while that is finally complete The builders left me with what you see in the first picture, which was originally just dirt with a bit of chipbark thrown over the top of it! 01.01.2022 This is the latest mood board done for a client who wanted a comfy living area. They love to snowboard but wanted the space not to feel cold, so ive incorporated a light wood and some fluffy cushions and long fluffy ottoman to bring those cozy feels into the space Ive also based the theme for this space around a Japanese Ski Lodge as my client loves to ski in Japan and have also allowed for snowboards to be hung on the wall as a feature Needless to say my client was thrilled to see the suggestions I had for this space #bjonesinteriors #interiordesign #snowtheme #snowboard #inspire #create #instagood #instacollage #moodboard
