24.01.2022 Alert! Bkmk Closure Day this Friday. Staff will be attending the following professional development day.

24.01.2022 Thanks to BKMK Gov council who supported us to commission the co-creation of an indigenous Aboriginal mural by Raylene and Sam from Marra Dreaming and the BKMK children. All Group A children have now added their dots to the mural and over the next two Tuesdays Group B get the opportunity to add their touch to the painting. The picture depicts the local environment from the river to the sea, with the Kindy as a community meeting space near the middle of the mural. River Red Gums were very important to the Kaurna people, as were the local native creatures. The mural will hang on the wall next to the Kindy entrance for a very long time and represents our acknowledgement of the Kaurna people, their connection to land and the importance of our kindy as a meeting place. More photos to come.

21.01.2022 Steven has written an article in the latest edition of Early Horizons magazine about the benefits of men working in early childhood, which features photos of some of our kindy children! Thanks to the staff, children and families for their support for the article. You can download the magazine digitally via the link below, but some additional hard copies have been organised and will be delivered by the end of the year. https://www.asg.com.au//e/asg_eh_2017_issue_6-2_au_web.pdf

21.01.2022 From tomorrow, 24/3/20 we are requesting that parents do not enter the kindergarten and say goodbye to their child at the gate. A staff member will take your child and sign them in. At the end of the day, we will be outside and we will take your child to you at the gate when you arrive. We will only be using the side gate that opens onto the park and the other gates will be locked. This action is in response to The request from the Government for social distancing. ... The increasing number of people infected with the COVID-19 virus. The virus is at least twice as contagious as the flu. The devastating consequence for the elderly. We understand that some children have anxiety about separating from parents and we will allow parents to enter if your child needs your support before you say goodbye. It is important that you talk to your child about this change to their morning arrival and departure routine so they can process the information and you can answer their questions before they arrive at kindy. I believe that we all need to do our part in trying to slow the rate at which cases are growing. Thank you for support with this action. Please feel free to talk to Genny if you want any further clarification.

17.01.2022 We at BKMK have had the privilege of having Glenn Wagland visit us with his mobile junk and nature play creations. His post here reminds me of the natural things we take for granted and ignore in our own backyards. At Kindy this week we took photos of mother nature's gifts in our yard and orchard. We then inserted the pics onto a bush treasure hunt document for each child and watched as they studied the picture clues and went off to hunt them down! Try it at home! If it's too easy - try photographing just a small portion of an object like the centre of a flower or a particular brick in the wall! Angela x
