23.01.2022 Feedback from having the pleasure to speak to AAMI Insurance customer service staff in December: "The highlight of course was Brad. His talk was a good reminder that we can achieve great things if we set our minds to it." - Karen "Brad really lifted my spirits and helped me focus on 'why I am here' and where could I possibly get to in my career. And to keep moving even when you think your chips are down. To say I was grateful is an understatement, it was a privilege to hear his story and I have already found my mindset has changed." - Danielle

23.01.2022 It doesn't matter what your goals are; health, business, physical. You will get there easier if you set a meaningful, substantive target. ... I want to lose weight I want to lose 10 kilos I want to get a better job I need to aim for THAT job I want to win that race I need to get into 4min/km pace So you've set a goal, now we need sub-goals.

22.01.2022 #beatyesterday It works. Thanks for the feedback Ryan!

22.01.2022 Goals and timeframes are great tools to motivate to as you can usually break down what steps are necessary to achieve said goal. An employee's KPIs need to be achieved by a set date. The footballer is aiming to win all games to play in the final. The runner aiming to peak on championship day after solid training and competition. Locally our winter athletes now wont have a season until next year which seems quite distant. Our track and field athletes are still hoping we have ...a season commence in a few months. A finish line can be a tough enough goal to work towards, let alone a start line that moves away from you. The goal is still there however, so appreciate the break, use the time wisely to get yourself prepared in all aspects. Personally I was to have just started my 9-month preparation for World Masters Indoors. This was to be held in Canada but the governing body has pushed back that meet for 12 months. Where this leaves me is to make a new plan and set some new challenges for the upcoming season. For those in business (and thankful they still are) the new financial year has just kicked off. Your goals have been set and the end date is approaching in 3 or 6 months. Your challenge differs from the athlete as you have no off season. Its a pure mental game: work towards your goal, hopefully achieve it, then start competing again tomorrow. Where an athlete generally has another season, the salesman the next quarter, another chance to achieve an unfulfilled goal, not so much our students. The goal is there but when time runs out they don’t get to start over again tomorrow or next season. In our household we are fast approaching the conclusion to Year 11. Thats only 18 months of secondary school remaining and there’s an ATAR score for university to be achieved. Fortunately we know the timeframe. We know what steps are required to achieve the goal. All that’s left to do is to do the work. Best of luck with your goals.

22.01.2022 It's been a long day and a long week but it's not time for a beverage, there's still time to find a bit more improvement before we close the door on this one. (Real gyms next week!) Lots of #mentoring this week Pic is for my #improvement

21.01.2022 Goals*: important Honing skills**: important *National Masters Long Jump record ** Last hit out before state champs ... Let's see if the hard work pays off and the sore bits don't stay sore

18.01.2022 Iso talks with AAMI front line teams mean no dressing up required.

18.01.2022 Thanks to Ric for sharing his thoughts on a recent talk- "Awesome presentation! Thought provoking, engaging and insightful. Its great how you have used a life event to motivate and channel the team's focus on perseverance. Thank you."

17.01.2022 An exam result doest represent 90 mins of effort. A job offer doesn't represent 60 minutes of effort. The attached photograph doesn't represent 16.17 seconds of effort. Its all the countless hours of work you put in ahead of that last hour or 90 minutes or 16 seconds that give you the result.

17.01.2022 If you've heard me talk about '18 months and 18 hours' this was taken just after the overheard conversation where I started second guessing my training volume. Luckily I am a stubborn individual and quickly told myself to shut up and turned those thoughts into positive ones. I make the joke about people not turning up in order for me to reach the podium... How very nearly it was me that didn't turn up.

17.01.2022 Working on my weaknesses to turn them into strengths (almost a pleasure on a day like this). Repetition. Repetition. Repetition. In this case; holding knee drive for long jump. In your case; closing a sale, managing difficult customers, prioritising needs, target setting, [insert other]? Let's talk.

13.01.2022 I have had to learn to be happy with my results. I don't claim to be a perfectionist but I have always found fault with the outcome. I demand a lot of myself so I think I probably always will. Usain Bolt was told after he set the 100m World Record of 9.58 "You just ran the perfect race". His response "No. I stumbled on my 3rd stride". Striving for perfection is both a blessing and a curse. It drives us to be the best we can be, but we won't ever reach it. We are probably bet...ter placed to set a concrete target and reach for that rather than some arbitrary 'do my best.' In the attached article Olympic diver Matthew Mitchell says "the goal posts always move" and I couldn't agree more. I agree with everything he states here. Don't worry. Be happy.

13.01.2022 Good morning. A new day. A new opportunity to be your personal best. Are you studying, reading, training, treating people better or eating healthier today? Or something else? It has to start somewhere.

12.01.2022 First official gig. FTG Eagles u17 finals teams and staff.

10.01.2022 Morning-after recovery from yesterday's athletics... correcting results, writing an article for the newspaper, oh, and the day job. Thanks to Ryan Clark for booking me to speak with his team on Dec 13. I hope they take a lot from it.

09.01.2022 Hi friends. Please consider sharing this page with friends or associates if they are looking for a motivational speaker. Sporting, corporate, schools. Thanks.

07.01.2022 I recently completed my now annual work with Flinders College students. What a great bunch of young men and ladies! We started with some practical training and then worked on 'game day' mindset and event focussing. Three years of working with the college and I'm pleased to hear that since then they have steadily improved their athletic results. So much of sport (and any other field with 'testing') is about the work you do before the big day. Plan. Prepare. Execute.

07.01.2022 Theres always more positives than there are negatives. While this was a poorly executed race, I allowed myself to get distracted by a falling (tumbling) athlete and the time was far slower than I was capable of... ...I again got to wear our national colours, I set an Oceania and meet age group record, made new mates like Ashish pictured, travelled to another beautiful part of the country, and established proof of concept! ... In preparation for this competition I researched and changed my training program for the first time in 4 years with great results in all events especially for the time of year. You may have hit your ceiling by playing it safe, but be bold, you may find you have another level to reach.

06.01.2022 Feedback from a session yesterday: "The presentation was great to hear and incredibly motivational. To see how Brad pushed through his physical and mental boundaries was inspiring itself, let alone...." -Jude

03.01.2022 My first presentation in 8 months (thanks covid) and first virtual this week. "I was amazed and inspired by the determination and strength he showed... It reminded me that even in very hard times you can still achieve amazing results if you push through and work hard. I will definitely be using this inspiration in my own work and personal life as a reminder to stay positive and keep pushing through even during the toughest times." - Laura

02.01.2022 Humbled to have received notification recently that I scored the #1 leader result over the past 6 months (in my day job). It's a long period to have your head down for, but the reward is there waiting at the end. It's great to have built such a strong team over the past 3 years. Thanks for boosting me. #teamwork #elevate #beatyesterday #suncorp

01.01.2022 I had a germ of an idea two years ago and gave myself until Christmas 2019 to be up and running. I knew I would have time constraints with work, family, training and life in general so I made sure not to rush this. Fortunately I have a mate in the game who has been very willing to help me get this off the ground and has been a great sounding board. The plan was executed I think pretty well and I ended up ahead of schedule with my first booked talk. Thanks Mark R for his inva...luable assistance with that step. I've since spoken a couple more times and each time it's getting better received. Practice makes perfect. One day it will be perfect! To execute something properly takes an investment of time and effort. If you think something is worthwhile, make that investment. Even if, like me, it's only a little bit at a time, the investment will pay off. I'm looking forward to 2020 paying off my last two years of investment. Happy New Year.

01.01.2022 Getting the mental edge. Are your co-workers working as hard as you today (regardless of the date)? Are your competitors? Maybe the work you're putting in over and above will make the difference. The end of the quarter is just days away... the next race is getting closer... 6 Xmas day sessions in a row.... #110hurdles #longjump #workhard #mentaledge #Refused #refusedarefndead
