13.01.2022 Saving this one for a rainy day. The initial inspection of the 1stRB30 billet block is almost complete, update coming soon, but no reason to wait and sit around where there is more to prepare for. Scan data for the Nissan VR38 all sorted. Picked out and recorded all the holes for oil, mains, coolant, head studs, main bearings etc etc

13.01.2022 That's a wrap for today. Yes it took me all day to get the main caps in. That little temp gun is just an indication of some of the fun I had today. Right now is where all the internet experts will go ahead and make up their own mind of what actually happened or may be happening so please humour me with your internet expertise....... Now I am no engine builder, but I have a thing for numbers and anything that involves numbers and me getting an opportunity to learn something n...ew, I'm all over it like a rash and as much as today was slow, I purposefully took my time to understand as much as I can to continue my personal evolution but more importantly, grow my knowledge of a brand new product. There aren't many that have the opportunity to get their hands on a billet block, let alone make one, but I spent all day, from 7am to just now, 6pm, on what is essentially a 3-4 hour job but provides me with a very healthy and early insight into what it takes to understand a billet aluminium engine. Do they move, yes they do, that is not nor should it be news to anyone, how you combat that, try to overcome it, limit this amount of movement and compensate for each of these factors is what this is all about. And to add to that, anyone who tells you any differently, is full of sh#t. I could simply just keep this to myself, but what is the fun in that. 12.01.2022 ......and that ladies and gentlemen is how you fit a full RB30 block in the smallest machine possible. We have modified the machine to fit such a large part and be able to machine the block in one piece from now on in. This is all part of what needs to be done to make the most of what we have. Understanding and figuring out the machines limits and making them work to your advantage is what we try and do and what makes us try and produce the best we can with what we have. 12.01.2022 Autodesk Fusion 360 V360...its a number thing. I have this thing with numbers. Just thought it was cool considering the program we use has "360" in it aswell. This is how many times we have modified and saved the design/program from the very start and surely there will be more to come as we're continue to refine it.

04.01.2022 This coming week......stay tuned The plan is to have this block finalised for machining. We have had the block reviewed and some suggestions have been made on the basis of which we have wanted to put our best foot forward from the very start. No, things don't always happen fast, but there is always a reason for that. You can't rush a project of this kind of scale.... The suggestions, recommendations or whatever you want to call them are nothing to drastic to be completely honest and they can all be incorporated into this very first prototype. Basically adding a few features on the request of several workshops and then further enhancing the main cap design for what we hope proves to be best solution out there. What I do know is that this looks like no other, the production version will be one piece, taking on feedback from all of those interested in the product has been well considered and the finish and attention to detail are unmatched. This is no mean feat for a shop of our size and capacity but it just proves what I always tell people, we can do more with less and that right there tells you something. Fingers crossed this coming week serves us well and we can pass it on for the next step of the process, where I will keep everyone posted.
