14.01.2022 Farewell to Louise Walsh. Our wonderful Louise is heading to the seaside. She shared this message with us: After more than 5 years at BMS and a total of 16 years with ACT Government , it is with mixed emotions that I farewell this wonderful community. I am chasing a dream I’ve had for many years and I’m about to embark on a sea-change to Batemans Bay/Eurobodalla. My last day at BMS will be Friday 29th May. Just prior to Covid19, I resigned from the AIMBIG/ BusyBeans p...rogram so there might be a new face for the BusyBeans eventually. I have really enjoyed supporting each student and the many fun times over the years both in classrooms and training them in the cafe. I am so proud of how much you have learned and wish you all the best post school. There are many parents/carers who I have had the privilege of getting to know whilst supporting their children. It has been my pleasure to watch your children grow and develop in their skills and confidence. I will especially miss the parents who were cafe regulars. I have loved the unique BMS staffing environment with its strong emphasis on well-being. I will truly miss your friendships, comraderie, teamwork and cordial club. I will visit BMS occasionally because Canberra was my home for 25years and I won’t be able to stay away (although I won’t miss those bleak, freezing cold top playground duties )

14.01.2022 Making positive change one step at a time. In 2018 ThinkPlace formed an employment pathways partnership with Black Mountain School, a centre of excellence in ed...ucation for students with intellectual disabilities. Every week, students and ex-students attend work experience at our Canberra studio assisting the team with various operations necessary for the functioning of the studio. The right to fair pay and the opportunity for appropriate and rewarding employment are important goals for many people living with intellectual disabilities. We are proud to play a small part in helping advance these fundamental human rights within our community. www.thinkplaceglobal.com/company/our-purpose

09.01.2022 Hi everyone, You may have noticed some significant changes that have occurred over the last couple of days to our school gates. To ensure everybody’s safety around some of the works happening in the school we have had some extra temporary fencing placed in the interim before some newer permanent fencing. What does this mean for drop offs/pick ups and general access to the school? All drop offs and pick ups will need to occur at the Faunce street entrance. The gates that allo...w car entrance will be unlocked and there is disability access parking. To enter the school building, please call the phone number on the door (which will soon be an intercom). The Cockle street gates (the entrance with the steep driveway) will be locked to cars but there will still be a pedestrian entrance gate and people can enter through there if they choose. This will take you to the front office also, but will not have drive-in access. We appreciate how flexible everybody has been during this transition process. Stay tuned for further updates! See more
