20.01.2022 Hi all you beautiful strong black women out there. I am happy to announce that our next Black Women Strong Gathering will take place on Thursday 10th and Friday 11th of November 2016 in Yarrabah. More details will be posted in the next week regarding registration and venue. Watch this space. :-)
15.01.2022 To say this year has been a blessing around the organising of the 2016 Black Women Strong Gathering is an understatement! We have been overwhelmed with the amount of support we've received from both local organisations and organisations outside of Yarrabah. The fabulous news this week is the Cairns Indigenous Youth Empowerment Program which is run by Nintiringanyi in Cairns has kindly offered to sponsor the KUP MURI Feast for the BWS Awards Night Dinner! This has allowed us t...o redirect the cost of the dinner to other areas such as paying for the attendance of local Yarrabah women to attend the gathering and the dinner so the cost has been revised down to $25 per head! So a MASSIVE THANK YOU to Nintiringanyi for their support!! In saying that we would also like to publicly thank our sponsors to date for the financial donations and in-kind support - without it; we would not be able to bring such an important event to the women and families of Yarrabah! These sponsors include (in no particular order): Gurriny Yealamucka Health Services Create Educate Lead Dirringhi Arts & Crafts Dirringhi Aboriginal Corporation The Yarrabah Supermarket Gindaja Treatment & Healing Centre Mission Australia Worklinks Personal Helpers & Mentors Program (PHaMS) Worklinks Partners in Recovery program (PIR) Yarrabah Aboriginal Shire Council The Houghton Family The Learning Workshop Neal & Eileen Fourmile & Family Nintiringanyi Mainie Australia THANK YOU!!!!! :) Go to www.blackwomenstrong.com or www.blackwomenstrong.com.au to download the registration forms for both the Gathering and the Awards Night Dinner. Stay tuned as there will be more information to come over the next week!! We have a fantastic line up of speakers, workshops and other performances and a brand new Award Category that will be that will be revealed at the dinner!!
15.01.2022 One of the workshops at the 2015 Black Women Strong Gathering will be on Self-Care. What is self-care? It's when you put down all your responsibilities, even if it's just for 5-10 mins per day, and do something that revitalises your physical, spiritual, mental or emotional well-being. It could even be doing nothing! The more you take care of yourself - the more you have to give out to others. Information on other workshops will become available soon. So watch this space! :) https://www.facebook.com/events/347062595495566/

06.01.2022 BOOKINGS CLOSE THIS WEEK! An event like no other 7 amazing women bringing you a full day of personal empowerment... The day focuses on challenges that all women face including depression, anxiety, burnout, relationships, emotional intelligence, individuality and self-love. Join us on Friday 6th September and enjoy the company of a room full of like-minded women - connect and make new friends and business acquaintances in a loving and supportive environment. Radiance 2018 was a great coming together for women. Throughout the event, I laughed, cried, and got inspired. I realised as women we have a connection no matter where we have come from or what we have been through. I often felt judged by other women but it was really only me that was judging myself. Radiance gave me perspective." ~ Norie Wah Day

01.01.2022 What an awesome day we had today at the Black Women Strong Gathering! We heard from our awesome guest speakers Maureen Moran & Florence Onus. There were in depth discussions around walking through your fears and embracing real opportunities in our lives. Maureen took our ladies through strategies for dealing with fears, pain and anxiety and trans-generational trauma. Florence shared her personal life story, talked about inter-generational trauma and the importance of healing.... Tears were shed and stories were shared amongst the women in attendance it was a great time of healing for many who were there. Tomorrow we’ll be hearing from Associate Professor Henrietta Marrie-Fourmile and Gurriny CEO Suzanne Andrews. These fantastic speakers will be followed by the workshops which includes a song writing workshop with sisters Merindi and Deline Briscoe.
