After positive feedback from our tennis tournament at the beginning of the year, it's only t...aken us close to a year to get another one sorted. Find a friend to partner up with for the "NO STRINGS ATTACHED" Tennis Tournament, happening on Friday 4th December. Theme this time is "A Taste of Christmas", so get your best attire ready. Will be $5 per person for the tournament, to cover light hire. If you can't find that perfect partner, don't stress. Still nominate yourself and we will find your perfect match. 03.01.2022 As Australia entered lockdown in early March 2020, Blackall Neighbourhood Centre launched our own 'Covid Chronicles' project - A series of social media local documentaries aimed at keeping our community socially connected virtually during such a time of uncertainty. With a socially distanced microphone and camera, Kirstie Davison of Mariki Media and Jaimee-lee Prow our Community Development Officer have attempted to attack every angle of this pandemic within our community. W...hat we didn’t expect at the time was just how far these ‘Covid Chronicles’ would go. The rest of the nation has seen just how resilient, resourceful and integral our rural communities are to the bigger picture. Over 52,500 people have virtually engaged with the Covid Chronicles Collection on Social Media. We are proud that the series has also been recognized by the State Library of Queensland, and will be archived as a valuable resource and recount of the pandemic for generations to come. Ten months on from when we first set out to capture our local experiences we are ‘Flushing Away 2020’ with our final Covid Chronicle instalment.
