21.01.2022 The 1st fleece on the Left won a Best Black Fleece some years ago: great colour and lustre, but not a great handle. The 1st fleece on the right (at 10 days old and fast asleep in the sun ) was not shown, but tested at 17.7m, 2.7 SD and 99.7 CF. A very useful fleece producing wether. Great colour, great lustre..great handle. Its only one test, until the next and the next. I like bloodlines that hold fineness and good handle.

12.01.2022 Today my lovely Deva left us. Born last century, she would have been 21 in a few months time. At 20, she was still inky black and soft handling, no white fibres. It didnt matter what you did to her bonnet you could never see her eyes. She liked to hang off the fence wire or gate. And she had a couple of dreadful haircuts, like the year we trimmed her tummy for coolness but left the rest of her unshorn for winter protection. (photo 3) Her legacy: some lovely daughters by CCH Anarchist and the inimitable Casablanca, son of Wh Casanova. Devas pointy little devil ears pop up in her offspring down the generations. Ive had some moments with her that, if it wasnt me telling the story, I wouldnt believe it. A very special, sweet old girl.

He has been shown successfully in Tasmania (Supreme Black Male, Flying Colours Show 2017) and received a Highly Commended award at last weeks Australian Alpaca Spectacular against outstanding competition. 05.01.2022 Hard work for anyone to take alpacas to our National Show (Spectacular) in Bendigo - but four Tassie studs made the journey - Leaenna Alpacas; Quamby Park Alpac...a Farm; Wharncliffe Alpaca Stud and Toffeemont Alpacas and Delfryn Alpacas who went along to make up the cheer squad. Showing today netted Alison at Whancliffe two Highly Commended and Sarah at Leaenna a 2nd. Well done all of you for getting there and well done for your places in very competitive classes. See more

04.01.2022 When too much (silver)is never enough. Perfect weather today for the 72nd Huon Show and I was chuffed to win both Sires Progeny and Get of Dam today with my blacks. Wharncliffe Genista and Wharncliffe Vanguard were both sired by Canchones Urban Maestro. At 7 months, they are displaying excellent softness of handle, consistency throughout the fleece and a high level of density. They are carbon copies of each other. Peas in the proverbial pod. Junior Genista appeared in the ring again...I wouldnt say walked ...with her Senior half sister Wharncliffe Geneva, in the Get of Dam. The similarity in style, lustre, softness and consistency were noted, in spite of the age difference. Geneva and Genista are out of ..Genevieve, a Best Black of inky lustre and density. The two girls are sired by 2 Gendarme sons. The Gens have it!
