25.01.2022 I had the pleasure of filming a very interesting project for @artplaykids last week called Sound Capsule. Children were facilitated by artists to document and record the sounds around Birrarung Marr and bury them in a time capsule for the children of the future to unearth in 2121! It was awesome to see them analysing and engaging with their environment so deeply and the drawings and soundscapes they created were just beautiful! There was a real understanding of how it’s not just the visual landscape that will change in 100 years but also what we hear when we listen deeply. Will kids hear birds in 100 years?
25.01.2022 Happy International Women’s Day to all the incredible women in film I’ve had the pleasure of working with! Looking forward to many more collaborations and continuing to open up the industry to more women and in particular empowering the next generation to follow in our footsteps! Here are some of the incredible next generation of young ladies I’ve had the pleasure of working with and teaching over the last year.
25.01.2022 I’ve been a bit quiet lately growing this babe in my belly. I’ve had to stop work and just focus on making this transition into motherhood. I’m almost 9 months pregnant now and ready to pop! Black Ant Films will be back and operational come February 2020 so get in touch for any projects you have coming up in the new year! Here’s a pic of my insanely large belly by my very talented fiancée Bricolage Built ... Catch you all on the flip side!
25.01.2022 A still frame from an interview with Dan Barker from Bricolage. This was allowed under our strict COVID lockdown rules in Melbourne because Dan is my fiancé. My fingers are crossed that they will announce today that filming can recommence from the 19th October! What is everyone else hoping for from today’s press conference? #melbournelockdown @bricolagebuilt
25.01.2022 Kicking off the second day of filming #vamff for @sense6 again! Doing some interviews here for #visa before covering the runway shows!
24.01.2022 I’ll be on The Conversation Hour with Jon Faine next Tuesday morning if anyone feels like tuning in. I’ll be on the show with producer Stephen Amis to talk about ‘Defend, Conserve, Protect’ a feature documentary that I was editor on. There’s also a screening and Q&A session with us next Thursday at Cinema Nova. ... https://www.cinemanova.com.au/films/defend-conserve-protect
23.01.2022 Yessss!! More of this please!
23.01.2022 After a short hiatus making a baby and a family I’m now back! Dan and I welcomed Michael Arlo Barker into the world on the 27th Oct 2019 and have had an amazing 12 week rollercoaster ride with him! I think it’s the only way you can describe parenthood! I’m kicking off bookings for cinematography and editing in February 2020 (next month) and can’t wait to have another amazing year creating for and with you all! I’m pleased to have my first job back with The Climate Council who do very important work which is needed now more than ever! Check them out if you don’t already follow. Thanks to everyone for your support through my time away, it’s good to be back!
22.01.2022 Day 2 of the Melbourne Fashion Festival!
21.01.2022 Here is a sneak peak of my beautiful fiancé working on an aspect of his exhibition piece titled ‘Alana’. The bronze handles were forged, shaped and polished by hand. There’s something special about documenting someone you love. Stay tuned for more content for @bricolagebuilt by #blackantfilms
19.01.2022 There are a lot of businesses and creatives going for grants right now to try and help them recover from COVID. The one thing that will make you stand out above the rest is quality video content. If you’re considering going for a grant send me a DM and we can chat about giving you the best chance possible of getting it! This is for a grant application for @bricolagebuilt. They wanted a video that communicated what craftsmanship meant to him. Enjoy!
19.01.2022 I’ll be on RRR tomorrow morning at 9am with producer Stephen Amis to talk about the feature film we’ve just released that I was editor on, ‘Defend, Conserve, Protect’. Tune in if you’re around, it’ll be my first time on the radio!

18.01.2022 Today I’m filming for Polyglot Theatre’s show Light Pickers. It’s such an explorative and immersive experience for the little ones. Get on down if you can, I’ll be taking my bub on Monday! Light Pickers returns to Melbourne this weekend with a three-day season at @artplaykids for @moombafestival. Babies, children under 5, and their adults are gently invited to enter a dark space, following a path of light. Abstract, organic shapes fill the space above and below, infusing the darkness with light and sound. The young participants touch, move and interact with the objects, transforming the dark space into ever-changing, glowing scenery. Free half-hour sessions will run from 7-9 March. Capacity is limited. For more details, visit the link in our bio. @theresa_harrison_photography #PolyglotTheatre #ArtPlay #MoombaFestival
15.01.2022 Just because we’re locked down doesn’t mean we can’t still create. Here’s a video of the final assembly of Bricolage’s exhibition piece ‘Alana’. I am very lucky to have such talent in my immediate family to document! And lucky to have a fiancé who names such beautiful work after me! What a dreamboat! Not long to go now and we’re allowed to go out and film again! Counting down to October 19th when we reach the next step of lockdown and we can blow the dust off our gear!
15.01.2022 I am so lucky to be able to work with some incredible female led crews! Absolute powerhouses!

14.01.2022 Filming for FUSE Darebin tonight and got to test out the Easyrig Minimax on an immersive theatre performance. I couldn’t find any info on whether it could be used whilst very pregnant but it was amazing paired with a Belly Band and I’m definitely getting one for my kit ASAP! I’m in love with how sore my arms aren’t after 2 hours of handheld run and gun filming! Thanks Sally Biasiutti for the BTS snap!

10.01.2022 I’m so saddened to hear about Halyna Hutchins. There is no excuse for this to ever happen. Always look out for each other’s safety on set! #Repost @jensler43 a word on guns on set:... there are a series of protocols that prevent yesterday’s tragedy from ever happening. once a gun is on set, the director, AD, actors, prop person + an armorer (if the prop person isn’t a licensed armorer) gather for a safety meeting and gun check. the barrel is shown to everyone, either to confirm it is empty, or to show that blank loads are being used. there is absolutely no reason anyone should ever use a live round or a full blank load, which is why we use 1/4 and 1/2 loads. but even those are dangerous at close range. blanks still have powder in them to create the effect of gun fire. they’re just missing the head of the bullet, but the force of extraction is the same. which is why if the gun is being fired towards a person or camera, the priority is to protect anyone on that axis. in the case of another actor, that actor is placed at a safe distance and out of range by using lenses, geography and composition to eliminate the possibility for error or injury. in the case of anyone behind the camera, a piece of Lexan is placed between the gun and the camera. lexan is 500x stronger than glass and 25x stronger than acrylic. it is not bulletproof but would protect you from a blank load. especially a 1/4 or 1/2 load. that said, we don’t even need to fire guns anymore on set. VFX is affordable and creates an excellent facsimile of a gun being fired. prior to shooting, an actor can be taken to a safe gun range to fire a real gun and learn the mechanics of kick back so they can fake the motion on the day. just like an actor is called upon to simulate sex, pain, death, learning to fire an empty gun and make it look real should be expected and required if the story demands. it’s choreography and trickery anyway. film is an illusion. it is artifice made to look like life, but it is not life. life must take precedence over the illusion. enough.

06.01.2022 Thank you to everyone that I’ve worked for and with this year so far! It’s been an incredible year and I’ve been lucky to work on some amazing projects! Despite it only being half way into the year and so many COVID hurdles to jump it was by far my best year of work yet! Yesterday I got to picture lock on a feature film that I was editing and am now officially on mat leave while we wait for our little baby Elijah to join us. Sending lots of love to my fellow Melbournians in lockdown! I’ll be back in business and open for bookings at the end of 2021 for select projects and back full-time in 2022!
05.01.2022 I had an amazing time at the screening of Defend, Conserve, Protect and Q&A tonight! Thanks so much for all that came down, it sold out!
