22.01.2022 *EDIT-HAS BEEN FOUND SAFE* Hello everyone! My housemates 17 year old cat has been missing all yesterday and today which is not like her at all, she’s a long haired tortoiseshell, her right eye has black/brown specks through it, her name is Bella she’s friendly even though she looks like a goblin, she has a brown leather collar with pastel flowers on it. She’s old and I’m really worried, If you’ve seen her or know anything please let me know! Living in Boondall on Lyndhurst road, thank you.

22.01.2022 On Monday we will be doing a school uniform clear out. So if you are IN NEED of school uniforms come in on Monday and you will be able to get 1 full uniform for your little one for free. Please note, we have peninsula schools only. Heaps of sizes & every school but it is what is here when you come, no holds unfortunately.

22.01.2022 To say Blackbird is just a second hand shop is an understatement. In a way we are therapy. Christ knows you are all my therapy. The amount that I unload on you all is huge & what I put on here is nothing to what I talk about with some of the girls in the shop. When talking with one of my Lovies today I got to tell her a little bit about my childhood & then after she left I had a little sook & then felt just that little bit lighter again. Don't get me wrong. I am not the type ...of person who blames my past on my current actions but some days my thoughts are filled with dark, pendulous memory clouds that make me feel just like that scared little girl again but so many of you have cleared those skies for me. without even knowing it Some days all we need is someone who we know will just listen. As women, mother's, partners, adults life has a way of making us feel stretched to the limit & a lot of us feel very alone sometimes without any real support or acknowledgement that we really trying to just get through the day without crying. Most days I don't make it. I cry all the time. So when my beautiful girl said something to me today that I could see was a HUGE thing for her to get off her chest it felt so good to tell her that it was okay to feel the way she felt because I have been through the same thing. The relief on her face to know that she could talk freely about her life, her feelings, her worries & that she was in a safe place was beautiful to see. But I still think she gave me more than I gave her.

19.01.2022 Yesterday there were quite a few customers who had totals of 333 in their credits. It was a big 3 day. and as they say things always happen in 3's. My 3 were hard. My financial issues came to a head.... I was confronted with how bad the shoplifting is in the shop. I got dumped for killing myself trying to help people with something that will never work, Blackbird which means I am not contributing with enough housework. So I am a bit tender today. As you can imagine I have been up all night with my brain going nuts trying to figure shit out so I just wanted to give you all a heads up as to why the shop probably wont be as stocked or as organised as usual today but dont worry, I will bounce back. S S

16.01.2022 There was a year when my babies were still young that even though I worked full time we missed Christmas. It was just not able to happen. My kids were like every kid & were asking for play stations & laptops & iPods & all the things that were way out of reach so we decided (well I did with much crying) that we would not purchase any presents & the kids got to learn that Christmas is one of the hardest times for parents. The stress, the financial side, the time, there is so m...uch involved for us parents that we get to Christmas day & breathe a sigh of relief that it is over. Being me & not wanting any of my blackbirdians to feel stress I have come up with a way that we can all help each other through this time. We are going to do a secret Santa. So as always we will have people who want to help & people who will need help so if you or someone you know may need a bit of help this christmas all you will have to do is go to the group page that will be coming next week, pop in the name of the parent (so we can contact them) the child's first name & age. We will have a lucky dip at the front counter for people who want to help where they can pull out a name & get a secret Santa present for that little one. We will also be able to provide this online for people who can't make it into the shop. So give us a few days to get this sorted & we will have a way for us all to spread a little bit of Christmas cheer this year. See more

16.01.2022 My darlings I am needing help. We are about to start a huge push to get school uniforms to families in need but I am needing a stock take. Is there anyone willing to come & take the uniforms, sort them & write down what stock we have? It's a bit of a job but it can be done by a few people to make it easier. Unfortunately I have to cut down some staff hours which means I need to work more hours & I don't know how I can get these done as well so I am reaching out.

05.01.2022 As of January 18th 2021, we're going to be providing free school supplies to those who really need the extra bit of help this new year. Just come in store, bring your kid's booklist, and we will see what we can do. If you have any school supplies lying around the house that aren't going to use, bring them in so we can pass them on!
