24.01.2022 In 1982 a small bookshop was set up in the front room at Tranby National Indigenous Adult Education & Training RTO 90492 Cooperative for Aborigines in Glebe, Sydney the first home for BLACKBOOKS. This logo was developed to represent the strength and importance of Aboriginal voices as written works. BLACKBOOKS went into abeyance in the mid-1990s and is planning a 2021 re-launch as www.BLACKBOOKS.online an on-line social enterprise with profits going into Aboriginal communi...ty controlled education and community development programs while building a national resource to support and drive the truth telling that is so important now and for the future of Australia and all Australians. BLACKBOOKS.online will provide an aggregated and curated platform to address the identified need and demand for an Aboriginal owned and operated "one stop shop" for the sales and distribution of culturally appropriate and significant books, literature and educational resources produced by, for and about First Nations Australia. #blackfellabookclub #aboriginalvoices #aboriginalstories #australiahasablackfuture #aboriginalwriters #aboriginalwriting

24.01.2022 The theme of NAIDOC Week this year is heal country. We think at a time like this it’s worth revisiting a favourite of ours: Fire Country: How Indigenous Fire Management Could Help Australia by Tagalaka man Victor Steffensen. Steffensen is a big believer that healing country heals communities. In his words: The country reflects all people, whether you are Indigenous or not. In fact, every life form on the planet shapes the country that they live in. The trick is to make ...your footprint shape the country as naturally as possible. The only way that can be done is being in sync with the lore of the land, sea and sky. What books are you reading to learn about #healingcountry this NAIDOC?
