24.01.2022 From midnight tonight, please remember that the rules have changed (again) Shields, scarves and other items that were previously permitted will no longer be su...fficient. All Victorians must wear a fitted face mask. There are still exemptions for when you are exercising. Stay safe, and hopefully we can all catch up soon!!

22.01.2022 Blackburn Cycling Club has made the tough, but necessary decision to cancel the 2020 Eildon Junior Tour. The July date had to be cancelled, and we had re-scheduled for September this year. Due to Stage 4 restrictions, large gatherings cannot occur, and the Local Council are not in a position to have large numbers of Melbournians in their town.

21.01.2022 With only 7-8 weeks until track season starts (Hopefully!!) I would like to thank our special coaches who have got our cyclists through this crazy Winter. Many thanks to Andrew Johnstone, Marty Elise, Jona Dent and Jemma Eastwood for giving up their Winter nights to coach this fantastic and eager bunch of athletes.

21.01.2022 Fantastic effort by all of the kids today at the second round of the National Junior Track Series at DISC. Blackburn had one of the biggest contingent of ride...rs, and certainly one of the loudest fan clubs!! The results in both the individual and team events were outstanding, and way too many to mention. 20.01.2022 EDIT: All positions have now been filled for the BBQ on the 13th. Thanks so much to everyone who volunteered. We really appreciate your support very much. :-)... Hello All, We have just been offered to run a BBQ at Bunnings Nunawading on the 13th December. I know its a crazy and busy time of year for everyone, but we would require some volunteers. You can do 1hr, 2hrs, 1/2 hr we would appreciate anything you can do to help us. We need 5 people minimum per hour. This is our biggest and best fundraiser for the club, so we appreciate the opportunity to do this. It will be done a little bit differently this time around due to Covid 19 restrictions to ensure social distancing. There will also be no cake stall, so we just need to cook and sell sausages!! If you could help us out on the 13th December, please either email me at [email protected] or PM me your availability. Once we have some volunteers, we will be able to set up a roster like we did last time, so it is shared across our awesome Blackburn Cycling Club family!! I need to know that we have enough volunteers by today, as we have to let Bunnings know if we can run the BBQ by tomorrow morning. So the sooner you could let me know the better. For all of our QLD friends who join in on the fun on a Monday and Wed...nesday night, you need to log on 1 hour earlier than usual, as Victoria is now on Daylight Savings time. 12.01.2022 With Covid cases on the rise , further 'exercising' restrictions have been introduced by the Victorian Government! Please refrain from training outside your local area, or you may find yourself receiving a $1600.00 fine. No specific distances have been released, so please use common sense. It will be a great time to explore your local area, and ride a few laps of a circuit, rather than heading down to the beach. Please refer to the Covid update supplied by Cycling Victoria, for further information.

11.01.2022 Well the wait is finally over and the time has come to put the riders back into the picture. The Blackburn Monday night DISC session are recommencing this Monda...y the 16th. We are still finalising the details, so keep your eyes out for an update later today on TeamApp and FB. Sessions will have restricted numbers and tickets must be purchased prior to the event to secure your spot. The people that have tickets held from the last DISC session that was postponed will need to purchase another ticket for Monday nights session to keep it simple. 11.01.2022 With the introduction of Stage 4 Restrictions, there are further limitations to exercising, that have been introduced. You must now not go further than 5km from your house while exercising. You can only exercise with 1 other person, even if you are from the same family. ... You can only exercise for a total of 1 hour, once a day. If we all abide by these rules, then hopefully we will see some racing later in the year!!

09.01.2022 For this Sundays social ride, will be giving the hills a miss, and doing a flat Beach Road ride! You have 2 choices. Option 1. Meet at Mordialloc pier Carpark ...at 8am, and we will ride to Port Melbourne and back to Mordialloc for a coffee. That’s a 40km return trip. Perfect for lots of our parents who ride with their kids. Option 2. Meet at the Burvale at 7am and we will ride to meet the others at Mordialloc, at 8am. Do the ride, coffee, and then head back. This will be 85km at least. This week we will be heading to Port Melbourne for a coffee, and then back to Mordialloc. If you would like to do the longer ride, but your kids can’t do the distance, we can take your kids and their bike from the Burvale at 7am, drive them to the start point so that they only do the 40km loop, please message Barry for prior arrangements. Please ensure you have a rear flashing red light, and a front white light. Please bring a spare tube. Look forward to seeing you all there!! 06.01.2022 Cycling Victoria is excited to announce the Victorian Junior Talent Squad (VJTS) open to all junior U15 and U17 riders who have a desire to race at a National C...hampionship. It is a virtual program run by the Victorian Junior State Team coaches - Jaime Gooding, William Howard, Cam McFarlane and Geoff Diamond. The sessions will run every Sunday commencing October 4th, with a start time of 3pm. Sessions will run for approximately one hour and be focused towards fun, team building, weekly challenges, rider education and giving juniors the tools they need to be a successful Victorian state team rider. https://cycling.org.au/vic/victorian-junior-talent-squad

Every training session, every Let's Race session, every Novice session, and our 2x ISO Omniums are includ...ed on our Flying 200m PB Board!! So, last season we had 85 Blackburners have a shot at their best time. This season, which has only been going for 3 weeks, we have allready had 82 Blackburners compete. Keep up the great work everyone!!!
