20.01.2022 Wishing you a Merry and Blessed Christmas 2020! From the team at Blackburn Family Dental Care. #christmasdinner #blackburndentist #gentledentist

19.01.2022 Update on covid 19 restrictions (now LEVEL 2 again): Following the recent spike of COVID 19 cases in Victoria, ADAVB (Australian dental association Victoria branch) now recommends that dental practices move from level 1 back LEVEL 2 restrictions from Wednesday 15th July 2020. What does this mean for patients at Blackburn Family dental care? It means that the following procedures can still be performed at level 2 restrictions:... Examinations Cleaning with hand instruments (if you prefer ultrasonic scaling please defer appointments until restrictions have further relaxed) Fillings Non-surgical extractions Orthodontics (clear aligners and braces) Root canal treatment implant procedures that do not utilise water aerosols. Denture procedures Emergency dental Procedures that generate large amounts of aerosol such as dental cleaning with the ultrasonic scaler and surgical extractions will continue to be deferred under level 2 guidelines. Our extra precautionary measures will continue, as we strive to make Blackburn Family dental care a safe environment for our patients and staff and they include: Our waiting rooms have been thoroughly disinfected and soft toys and brochures have been removed during this time. Waiting room chairs have been arranged so that the adequate 1.5m social distancing can be observed. Appointment times have been spaced out to ensure less waiting time for you. You may be asked questions relating to travel, contact with possible carriers, or symptoms including: shortness of breathe, cough, temperature and sore throat. You will be asked to use hand sanitizer upon entering premises. You will be asked to do a preprocedural mouthrinse of 1 percent hydrogen peroxide solution as recommended by Ada guidelines. Extra frequency of sanitizing efforts include increased cleaning of all surfaces in surgery, plus other surfaces in the reception including eftpos machines, pens and surfaces that are touched frequently between each patient. This is done with hospital grade alcohol disinfectant on top of our usual accreditation approved stringent hygiene procedures which are already designed to keep you safe from viruses and bacterias. (Yes we are already an accredited practise) Procedures will be done with minimal aerosol involvement. there will be an increased use of rubber dam for certain procedures to minimise aerosols. If you wish to make an appointment please contact us on the following: (03) 9877 2589 or leave a message in our messaging system on our website @ www.blackburnfamilydentalcare.com.au Or email us on [email protected] The phones, emails and website messaging will be closely monitored. We are closely following the situation and will keep you updated. Kind regards Dr Alvin Shee, Dr Nicole Faris and the team at Blackburn Family dental care
