15.01.2022 The Blackburn Junior Football Club has been deeply saddened by the recent sudden and tragic death of Matthew Farley. Matt played all of his football career at Blackburn from Under 9's through to finishing Under 17's in 2019. He attended Laburnum Primary School and was also a keen participant at the Laburnum Auskick, where his father Sean ran the centre for a number of years. Matt played predominantly in the Reds and was very quiet in the change rooms, but could make an incr...edible impact out on the field. It wasn't unusual for Matt to come out in the last quarter and make a match winning impact. In the Under 15's we saw him mature as a player throughout the season and take out the Most Improved award at the end of the year. Matt will be most remembered on the footy field, as the player who would burst out of a pack and thump a kick deep into the forward line. This tragedy has touched so many of us so deeply and our thoughts are with his parents Sean and Nicole and his younger sister Emma. A fantastic family who have always been there to help out and have always been heavily involved in community clubs. We know this has affected a number of families and boys that were particularly close to the Farley family and our thoughts go out to everyone at this time. We wish that we could join together to pay our respects in the middle of Morton Park, and have a kick for Matt. Instead we ask that you put on your Blackburn colours and have a kick in his memory.
