24.01.2022 Junior Cobra Round 6 Results U16's - 5 from 5 for the 16's as they head into the Christmas break in 2nd spot on the ladder with only percentage separating them from top spot! Blackburn South 9/151cc def. St. Davids 8/128cc J. Donlon 29(30)ret, L. Cuce 26(19), T. Cooper 2/17.... U14's - Good effort by the 14's but unfortunately too many wickets costing them again. Blackburn South 9/65cc def. by St. Davids 3/88cc U12's - Much improved by the 12's this week, but were hampered by a very large extras tally. 5/65cc def. by Boronia 2/99cc Well done juniors on the first part of the season, have a merry Christmas and happy new year and look forward to seeing you all again in 2021!

24.01.2022 Hi Cobras First week of cricket is done after our extra long off season. It's good to be back on the field again and have a few wins come our way! We're excited to announce our first event of the season which will be a club breakfast!... Food will be free with a ticket(s) bought for the Toyota "Good for Cricket" raffle, which is effectively the same thing as 100% of the proceeds of the raffle will go to the club, plus you get to go into the draw for some awesome prizes such as a new car, coaching clinics or dinner with an Australian cricket legend. 23.01.2022 Congrats again to the 2's winning back-to-back premierships in thrilling fashion (and with the help of the true top scorer - extras!). A real team effort and a premiership that was resoundingly celebrated yesterday! Commiserations to the 3's who had an excellent season but ultimately came up short on the day. Overnight scores are as follows... 2's - Blackburn South vs Kerrimuir United 3/81 (27.3 Overs) J. Wilcox 3/14... 3's - Blackburn South vs Vermont South 9/141cc (35 Overs) P. McRedmond 4/31, T. 22.01.2022 Congrats again to the 2's and 3's that made the grand final for season 2020/2021! A fantastic achievement for the club as well as the players in the teams involved. The BOQ Fairfield teams for the grand finals are below, note the earlier start time for all grades (2's - 12:30, 3's - 1pm) to try and beat tomorrows ordinary weather forecast. In the likely event of the day being washed out we will be back on Sunday to play the matches. Hope to see everyone from the Cobra family out in force over the weekend supporting the 2's and 3's! Blackburn South 127 def. by Bulleen Templestowe 6/130... 2XI - Great start for the 2's moving up a grade after last seasons premiership win. Holding their nerve defending 4 off the last ball to win! Blackburn South 8/154cc def. Bulleen Templestowe 9/151cc K. Tharmasuthan 58, N. Kinsella 32, J. Wilcox 3/16, C. Stephens 3/24. 3XI - Similar story in the 3's also defending 4 off the last ball of the game to pick up the win. Blackburn South 7/171cc def. Heatherdale 6/168cc D. Ewert 51ret, N. Bell 47, T. Cooper 2/30. 4XI - Bit more comfortable in the 4's, chasing down a competitive score with relative ease with 6 overs still in hand. Blackburn South 5/193 def. Mitcham 7/186cc J. Murphy 44, T. 20.01.2022 Senior Cobra Round 6 Results 1XI - A poor start to the run chase meant the 1's were on the back foot early and unfortunately couldn't quite recover from despite some handy lower order hitting. Blackburn South 146 def. by Mitcham 9/163 T. Snow 40*(68), A Giuliano 29(50).... 2XI - The 2's had a day to forget with the bat and despite making some sort of a game of it with the ball never had enough runs in hand to defend. Blackburn South 89 def. by Mitcham 6/91 J. Wilcox 27*, K. Patel 3/21 3XI - The 3's thankfully saved the clubs complete blushes with a dominant victory! Blackburn South 3/210cc def. Wyclif 138 D. Smith 51ret, D. Ewert 39, D. Anderson 32, R. Dean 27* & 3/25, D. Vandenberg 25, T. Cooper 3/22. 4XI - Couple of lower grade shockers coming up sadly, as the 4's were overdone by the top team. Special mention to Hammer who dug in late to stop it from being a complete disaster. Blackburn South 62 def. by Eley Park 6/194cc 5XI - Similar story in the 5's having a shocker with the bat and having the young kids playing seniors like Noah Black, Aidan Hookey and Jonty Sinclair, save it from being much worse. Blackburn South 72 def. by Forest Hill 8/168cc A. Hookey 3/13 T20 1XI - The 2's had a bye so it was only the 1's playing in the final T20 of the season. Some good top and lower order batting was followed by a borderline embarrassing fielding effort with multiple dropped catches....but just held on to take the victory and be undefeated going into the Christmas break. 17.01.2022 Cobra Award Winners - Season 2019/2020 Congrats to Alex Brennan for taking out the 2XI Batting award. Alex bounced between the 1's and 2's for much of the season, but made the most of it when in the 2's with a spectacular 143* against Templestowe on the final day of the regular season. He also made 94 against them earlier in the season meaning all but 1 of his 2's runs were made against Templestowe; and them probably wishing he wasn't playing 2's those games! Well done again Alex on an excellent season!

14.01.2022 Cricket Season is finally here! Please note that we have already had our first win for the season with our 5th XI winning by forfeit. For players selected for our 5th XI this week an impromptu training session will be held in the nets at Blackburn South from 1pm to 3pm 3rd XI players please note that your opponent is not using the 1breadcrumb app for contact tracing. There are using there own QR coding system, there should be a QR code to scan at the ground or you can check i...n and check out via their dedicated web-link of https://form.jotform.com/202601611059848 PLEASE NOTE: All players please note that with most facilities at the grounds will not be accessible in the short term, so it recommended that if you are playing away or at our alternative ground of Ballyshannassy Park, that you bring your own chair should you wish. Also please note that there will be NO AFTERNOON TEAS or DRINK facilities at the grounds at this stage, so please bring your own drink/food for the time being. Good luck to all teams and Go Cobras!

14.01.2022 Great effort by the Aussies there with the bat! While we are in the innings break here are the teams for Round 3 matches tomorrow. This will be the first round where we will have 2 games going at our home away from home at Ballyshannasy Park where the 3's and 4's will be. It will also be the first home game for the 1's as they look to open their account for this season. As always all the best to teams this weekend and go cobras!

08.01.2022 Its been a long road but Round One is finally upon us on Saturday! Final senior training is this afternoon and Snowy has posted the groups in the Whatsapp Group. Importantly, every player needs to be across COVID Match Day Rules avaliable here: https://drive.google.com//1wiIEz8WmE126K_txzTmM91j9T/view The committee is meeting tonight to digest the latest council rules around use of clubrooms and gathering of people, we will provide an update on this before Saturday.... Selection will be finalized after training look out for this later this evening or Friday for when/where you are playing. For new players needing to buy uniform for Saturday, Ben Dall will be at the clubrooms after training to help you out. Read the COVID Match Day Rules, get a good sleep Friday and play straight early!

The 14's and 12's struggled again, but it is good to see many of the kids batting out their allotted balls and retiring not out. 06.01.2022 Hi and welcome to 2021 Cobras! We hope that you've all had a lovely Christmas and New Year break and ready for more cricket action! Training will start up again this Tuesday for seniors in preparation for matches commencing again Saturday January 9th. A couple of holiday announcements to make. While works on a main oval continue to progress. We are excited to announce that the North Oval ground has had a new concrete slab poured as well and new synthetic pitch to be attached.... This is a wonderful addition particularly for our junior club who will not have to deal with those dreaded mats anymore! We have 2 upcoming events to announce as well. Our long overdue senior presentation night for last season will be held after our matches on January 16th. We also have the reverse raffle which is our main whole club social event of the season on Sunday February 7th.
