23.01.2022 The P&C are happy to announce that we are introducing the QKR App which will allow parents to pay online and streamline payments for P&C in Term 4. Our first Tuckshop will start next week on Wednesday 14th October (you will need to submit your orders by Tue 13th 9am). You will now be able to order for 1st and 2nd break. You will also be able to place your Mango Fundraiser orders using the QKR App.... What do you need to do? Simple - download the QKR App, set-up your children's profiles and then you will find our regular tuckshop menu available to order for the 14th October :) We hope everyone enjoys the convenience of paying online and we will still be offering cash transactions for families that prefer the current method of payment.

14.01.2022 Recently we were lucky enough to have our Olympic Unleashed Athlete Taylor McKeown join Blackbutt State School via Zoom. During her visit the students learnt about Taylor’s journey to becoming an Olympic athlete. Taylor spoke about the challenges she faced and how she was able to overcome these hurdles. The students were especially excited to hear about Taylor’s time during the 2016 RIO Olympics that Taylor won a Silver medal in the women’s 4x100 medley relay. The students en...joyed the Q&A session where they asked many great questions. Some of these included. What goes through your head as you hit the water? What other sports do you enjoy? to which we found out Taylor enjoys freediving and can hold her breathe for 3minutes 30 seconds. The students were inspired by her story and are driven to see how they can achieve their own goals now. Taylor shared her Australian Olympics profile with us and can be accessed by the following link. https://www.olympics.com.au/olympians/taylor-mckeown/ We wish Taylor all the best of luck in her training and bid for the 2021 Tokyo Olympic Games. Thank you for your Visit Taylor! #blackbuttss #OlympicsUnleashed #taylormckeown #AUSOlympicTeam See more

02.01.2022 The Great Volcano Challenge... Last Friday at School for our whole group Science and Art activity we used a mix of plain flour and water to make glue and tore newspapers strips to make a paper mache Volcano. Sticky Icky messy fun We started off with a wooden base and a cardboard roll and in pairs we added the paper mache until a Volcano shape was formed. For the final layer we used paper towel and watered down PVA glue and let them dry for the week.... This brings us to today Friday the 1st, we painted out Volcano creations in the morning and put them out to dry so we could finish off the experiment in the afternoon. Each pair picked out their ingredients, wrote out their method and we headed outside to test them out to see which one would make the Volcano eruption effect. We had 3 popular methods: 1. Coke and a Mentos 2. Vinegar, Food Colouring and Bi Carb Soda 3. Vinegar, Food Colouring, Bi Carb Soda, water and dish washing liquid. We thought we’d share a few happy snaps Miss Rigby, Miss Savage & Mr Wild
