25.01.2022 Colourful Cat #ilovecats #lazysunday

24.01.2022 Some of my students super groovy art work made this week (school starts early here). Art teaching is the best.

23.01.2022 This is a snapshot of my quick quilt in progress. I know the simple squares aren’t a very sophisticated layout but the end result will be colourful and happy. It’s been a nice way to spend a few hours while I’m in isolation. #quiltingfun

23.01.2022 Bats at dawn... #naturelover #dawn

23.01.2022 I hate wasting fabric so I’ve made a cushion cover with a good portion of the off cuts from my recent quilt project. The result is pretty crazy - which is a reflection of how I’m feeling during my Corona virus lockdown! #crazyquilt #sustainablesewing

21.01.2022 The start of a crazy quilt from small but exquisite remnants of fabric.

19.01.2022 I can’t bear to throw out any of my beautiful fabric remnants and keep them for little projects. I’ve just finished making this lined carry bag for a work colleague as a farewell gift. The fabric is all from the legendary Injalak Arts which is the art centre here in Gunbalanya (I’m so lucky!). I hope she likes it. #injalakarts #indigenousart #sustainablesewing

19.01.2022 A very special Christmas SA fresh seafood treat (we got a voucher as a gift). Merry Christmas everyone.

17.01.2022 I’m a back teaching in Gunbalanya in Remote NT - aren’t these flowers so beautiful?

16.01.2022 Most of my dressmaking is for clients but just in time for Christmas I managed to fit in a shirt for my lovely husband. I just love this hand blocked crocodile fabric from Maningrida. #tropicalchristmas #giftmadewithlove #babbarradesigns #darwinstyle

15.01.2022 I had a remnant of striking black and white fabric from the Tiwi islands and I combined it with a remnant of Injalak Arts fabric. Pretty groovy result I reckon.

13.01.2022 Absolutely fabulous hand woven Pandanus earrings made by local women in Gunbalanya, Arnhemland. I just can’t help myself when the ladies come around with their wonderful work. One of the many perks of remote teaching.

12.01.2022 First sewing project in my teachers accommodation in Gunbalanya - new curtains made with Nerida Hansen bird fabric plus some op shop fabric. The rest of my house is awesome thank goodness! #imadeit #handmade

11.01.2022 It’s Rosella season and I thought I might try dyeing some fabric with my awesome harvest this morning. Next week my preschool class will be picking Rosellas to make jam! #remoteteaching #rosella #naturaldyeing

11.01.2022 Made myself some cute pants this weekend from one of my favourite patterns. As you can see the front and back panels are all different - I’d bought a crafters pack from Nerida Hansen fabrics (50cm of each fabric). And I’ve got enough left over to do a groovy hexagon patchwork piece - which I started cutting and laying out today. #neridahansenfabrics

11.01.2022 Perfect little puff cloud. #clouds

09.01.2022 There’s not a lot to do out in a remote community (no cafes to go to!) so I’ve amused myself this morning by making one of my naked op shop Barbies (bought for my preschooler to play with) some clothes, and I made a cushion cover too. All made with fabric scraps. #barbie #dollsclothes #sustainablefashion

09.01.2022 I just couldn’t resist posting this photo of some of my preschoolers - the look of pure joy on their faces while playing with balloons made my heart sing. #remoteteaching #preschoolactivities

08.01.2022 This beautiful dress made from a silk sari was Black Cat Couture’s last dressmaking job for 2019 - finished yesterday. It’s quite different to what I normally do but it has been a joy to make and I’m very happy with the end result. My lovely client will be wearing it to a Sri Lankan wedding in January. #sari #srilankanwedding #dressmaking #bespoke

06.01.2022 Omg fabulous pandanus jewellery and little basket bought today from some incredibly talented local women.

06.01.2022 Short walk through my garden on a beautiful wet season morning...

06.01.2022 Day 1 of isolation at home and I’m soooooo bored. I’m not really into quilting but I’m making one out of these bright and happy fabric pieces I found in my very messy studio. (My daughter said I should clean the fridge.) Stay tuned for the end result. Ps I did do 4 loads of washing today. #socialisolation

03.01.2022 Corona virus quilt complete, plus a few other small items made with remnants. Lots of fun, and no new fabric purchased. #isolationisntallbad

03.01.2022 Black Cat Couture’s latest creation - a gorgeous dress made for a lovely client (with bow tie for her partner). I’m particularly happy with the positioning of the ‘mats’ on the dress. Fabric is by Injalak Arts. #injalakarts #bespoke #dressmaking #darwinstyle #fabulousfabrics

02.01.2022 Secondhand Barbie is wearing a lovely new outfit made from Injalak Arts and Bimawear fabric remnants. #sewingonsaturday #injalakarts #bimawear #barbie

01.01.2022 I haven’t done much sewing for myself lately but I’m super happy with these groovy wide leg pants I just completed. The fabric was sourced from the legendary Injalak Arts. #imadeit #indigenousfabric #aboriginalart @ Darwin, Northern Territory

01.01.2022 We made animal masks at preschool this week and the kids LOVED them - they totally role played their chosen animal and I even got nipped by a dog. Check out the two dog stand off. Best job ever! #preschoolfun @ Gunbalanya
