24.01.2022 We look forward to a Wattle Flat sunset on a glorious, fine, still, warm day like today, almost as much as we do Christmas .. Um, almost ...

22.01.2022 And just had to share these sunsets too .. so magical, especially that silvery slithery moon. (it’s actually a very special night astrologically speaking tonight - Jupiter and Saturn are both within the halo of the moon which is apparently very rare!)

22.01.2022 This Christmas, why not pre-order a NATIVE CHRISTMAS WREATH? 2020 has been a year like no other. Some aspects of the coming festive season may be still unknown or will be unfamiliar to us, and our celebrations this year are likely to be a little - or perhaps even a lot - different, to those we’ve experienced in the past. ... But some things will endure and continue to bring pleasure, even in these most unusual times .. Christmas decorations being one! Who can imagine a December in Oz without the fake fir, tinsel, baubles, fairy lights, glitz, glam (and, um, gaudy excess) which characterizes many a traditional Aussie Xmas? Why not make this a cooler yule than previously and try something a bit different .. a stunning, hand-made floral wreath made from a variety of freshly picked but long-lasting Australian native flowers? Natural. Unique. Eye-catching. Beautiful. Gorgeous on front doors, as table centre pieces or as very special gifts.... Available in small ($25), medium ($45) and large ($65) sizes they can be pre-ordered for collection at any of the following Melbourne Farmers’ Markets: Carlton : This Saturday, Dec 5 Alphington : Sunday, Dec 13 Coburg : Saturday, Dec 19 Alphington & Coburg Christmas Markets, Dec 23 The Black Catter team is just lending a hand in designing and creating these lovely wreaths. They’re the brain child and initiative of a BCT daughter and her partner (great job Tildy & Almo @baroucheflowers .. we love your work! ) To place an order, or for more information, contact the wreath-makers via email at: [email protected]

19.01.2022 With Christmas gift panning now on everyone’s imminent ‘to do’ lists, why not give your beloveds, nearests and dearests something a little bit different and extravagant this year? And truly, could an extra special 2020 festive indulgence be more deserved than right now?... A Gift Certificate from Black Cat Truffles - for any amount you nominate over $50 - ticks just about every box: It can be used for a Truffle Hunt and Taste of Truffles Experience (held every weekend during the truffle season from June til late August) Or on delicious fresh black truffles or any item from our range of beautiful truffle-infused products (also in season) A Black Cat tour and tasting is fun, unique and the ultimate treat for the foodies in your lives .. especially if they are passionate or are intrigued by truffles and curious about the science, art and magic of their cultivation and harvest. They’ll love foraging for truffles with one of our specially trained dogs, then savouring exquisite truffle dishes afterwards in our cosy licensed Cafe. We send these attractive gift cards to the lucky recipients of your generosity in silky envelopes with copperplate lettering and wording exactly as you wish. Spoil someone precious in your life this Christmas with this awesome gift. Jump on to our website to make your purchase or ring Kristen on 0407 059 225 with any questions at all.

09.01.2022 Some days nature’s wonders truly take your breath away. Today was such a day. Almost from nowhere this morning, the ominous charcoal sky started to silently undergo the most staggering transformation. Ragged pouches, fluffy lobes of grey-tinged cottony puffs were strewn across the sky, twisting and re-configuring as we watched, gob-smacked. Our expert family meteorologist informed us that these clouds, called mammatus, could be the harbinger of some serious weather but on t...his occasion their foreboding appearance was just that .. all show, no go. But wow, what a spectacle! And great to be keeping abreast of phenomena like this!

09.01.2022 Sun shining, skies cloudless, lawns mown, flowers blooming, alpacas chubby and cheery .. Black Catters happy! ... Double donut days in Melbourne continuing, lock down easing, ring of steel ending, Biden & Harris victorious .. Black Catters euphoric!

08.01.2022 Don’t think we’ll ever get tired of these lovely sights around our farm. Thank you, northern neighbour, for this stunning and beautifully manicured view over your property. Thank you, previous BCT owners, for your horticultural talents, green thumbs and gorgeous garden vision.... Thank you alpaca squad, for your gentle natures, idiosyncrasies and cria(s) .. we love little Maple and can’t wait for more babies! And thank you, quirky random geological features (such as a this colourful cluster of basalt boulders), for your beauty and for keeping the resident geophysicist at BCT very happy indeed! Despite the grey skies today there was much to celebrate ...

08.01.2022 This is a post, underpinned with immense gratitude, to recognize the extraordinary labours of our wonderful and redoubtable Black Cat Jackaroo, the one and only Matt! With resilience, persistence, good humour and Herculean determination (and a steady supply of tea and cake to fuel and nourish) Matt’s removed a built up jungle of thickly twisted and tangled fallen trees, logs, bark, blackberries, weeds and leaf litter with the most deftly administered chain saw, whipper-s...nipper and ute in town. De-cluttering task now complete (and our fire-risk from the east decreased lots) we’re enjoying a much safer and tidier little patch. Thank you mate .. you’re a legend.

05.01.2022 This walkway is a favourite spot for revery and quiet retreat at BCT (especially for Queen Kora it seems who spends lots of time asleep under the cool agapanthus). On warm days like today, it’s lovely to watch the gorgeous floral clusters of the wisteria burst into life almost before our very eyes. What stunning creepers they are .. and that purple! And what fun to discover this beautiful urn tucked deep within the thick green fringe, now sporting some new spring blooms!

02.01.2022 At just 10 days old, Maple is already moving as smoothly as the syrupy sap from the eponymous tree. Although her mother Chinook is always close by, she’s an independent little spirit who seems to have already established her place in the pecking order of the Black Catter alpaca squad. At the top. She’s pretty chilled - has been from birth - and even takes the excitable shenanigans of her canine mates in her elegant, silky stride.
