23.01.2022 I know the pause on non-urgent elective surgeries has meant an anxious wait for people. The term 'elective' never really does justice to the changes a hip repl...acement or cataract removal can make to someone's life. No-one wants a delay on these important operations but it was necessary while our hospitals dealt with the worst of the pandemic. Pleased to announce today that we're able to lock in a staged timeline for getting surgeries back up and running. This means hospitals state-wide will return to 100 per cent of usual activity when Victoria reaches the Last Step of the roadmap planned for 23 November. In real terms, that accounts for around 18,750 additional elective surgeries across our private and public hospitals in October, and an extra 10,500 surgeries in November. We'll also reinstate the elective surgery blitz to clear the backlog as soon as it's safe to do so. And for people waiting on dental or allied health treatment restrictions for those services in metro Melbourne will ease during the Second Step, from the 28 September. That means non-urgent procedures including routine dental examinations, temporary fillings, simple extractions, preventive procedures, and dentures and orthodontic treatments can go ahead. Allied health professionals will be able to see patients face-to-face for a broader range of treatments such as pain management or supporting mobility. These steps are only possible because of Victorians' efforts and sacrifices and success in driving the numbers down. So thank you.

22.01.2022 Getting to a drive-through or walk-in testing site isnt the most accessible option for everyone. Thats why weve introduced the Call-to-Test service. An in-...home testing service for those with injuries, disabilities or who have difficulty travelling - and would otherwise be unable to leave home to be tested. If you live in a Stage 4 restrictions area, have symptoms, and youre eligible for the service, a qualified health clinician will visit within 48 hours of your call. Youll be able to isolate safely at home, and help slow the spread. No one should miss out on a getting a coronavirus test when they need one. And this way, they wont.

20.01.2022 When this brave and clever 9-year-old was bitten by a huge brown snake, a team of people sprang into action. But the most unusual source of help? Russell Coight.... 20.01.2022 Hand sanitiser has been a lifesaver during COVID-19, effective at killing germs (if containing 70% alcohol). According to the Poisons Information Centre, alcohol-based hand sanitiser has also been responsible for a two-fold increase in calls about accidental poisoning. Most of those calls were about children under 5 years old who had ingested hand sanitiser. Some safety tips:... Store hand sanitisers safely and out of reach of children. Supervise the use of hand sanitiser by children. Be aware of imported products that may not be clearly labelled and contain more toxic alcohols, such as methanol. Washing hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds is a safe and effective option. If you suspect your child has ingested any quantity of hand sanitiser, call the 24-hour Poisons Information Centre on 13 11 26, from anywhere in Australia.

08.01.2022 Stage 4 Lockdown and Stage 3 Regional Dan Andrews said that this Pandemic, a once in a century occurrence, is the biggest challenge we have ever faced. The ac...tions we are being asked to take, demonstrate how the small things we as individuals do make an enormous difference. All of these restrictions are about limiting movement and limiting contact to stop spread of this disease. We must behave as though EVERY township and EVERY PERSON that you have contact with, has COVID 19. There are currently active cases in our catchment where we cant identify their initial contact. We should absolutely assume there will be more. This is the danger of community transmission. It is a hidden and highly contagious enemy that we should assume is everywhere. Please get tested if you have symptoms.
