24.01.2022 Thank you for all the messages we've received about the fires in Blackheath. The Artist Cottage was incredibly lucky and hasn't been affected at all even though the fire passed by our house VERY closely. In fact, it came up to the very edge of our backyard, but thanks to the amazing efforts of the locals and firefighters, no houses on Hat Hill Road were affected. Here are some photos of our backyard, you can see where the fire passed by in the background. Luckily the birds are starting to return to our bird bath and balcony, and we hope that the beautiful Australian bush starts to regenerate soon. To help support the local community, we have decided to donate $20 from every booking to the Blackheath/ Mount Vic Rural Fire Brigade to help fund the amazing work they do.
