25.01.2022 The next meeting of the Blackheath Horticultural Society will be held tomorrow 5 March from 10-12 at the Campbell Rhodo Gardens in Bacchante Street. Our speaker will be Christine Cuneo from Birches of Leura talking about Spring Flowering Bulbs. Bring a plate to share or a gold coin donation towards a yummy morning tea - everyone welcome

21.01.2022 The Club had a recent outing to Mt Annan Botanic Gardens which was looking beautiful in its early Spring colours. Well worth a visit at any time of year!

21.01.2022 The next meeting of the Blackheath Horticultural Society will be held this coming Thursday 4 July at 10am at the Campbell Rhodo Gardens in Blackheath. Our invited speaker will be Jo-Anne Allan from the Blue Mountains City Council and she will be talking on Composting. 18.01.2022 2020 marks the centenary year of the Blackheath Horticultural Society. This means that our annual Flower and Craft show will be bigger and better than ever. The show runs on the weekend of the 26 and 27 September with show entries in all classes being accepted on Friday 25 and early Saturday 26 September. There will be art and craft, cooking and preserves to be judged along with the floral exhibits. We are also expecting a large number of entries to the photographic competition, with great prizes to be won. Watch this page or contact us for further details! Time to start thinking about your entries, its fun and free to enter all classes except photography (fun with a small entry fee). Be in it to win it

17.01.2022 Although Mt Tomah Botanical Gardens lost 25% of its area to bushfire, there is still plenty of life and beauty to be found. Well worth a visit at anytime of year

16.01.2022 The judging of our regular mini-flower show at the Horticultural Society meeting this morning by our resident judge. Always competitive with something to learn - why not come along and try your luck?



14.01.2022 I almost decided to get rid of my small lawns but realised that would be mulch overkill. So made a new mini lawn and new small garden bed outside the chook pen. Always room for new plantings - some you win, others you lose!

14.01.2022 The next meeting of the Blackheath Horticultural Society will be on Thursday 2nd April from 10am at the Rhodo Gardens in Bacchante St, Blackheath. Our speaker will be Liz Benson who will be talking about The Impact of the Discovery of the Wollemi Pine Liz Benson is a former High School Teacher and Education officer for Royal Botanic Gardens and NPWS . She will be relating the discovery of the Wollemi Pine to our knowledge of the history of the evolution of plants in Australia. Come and join us for what should be a very entertaining presentation - bring a plate to share or gold coin donation for morning tea!

05.01.2022 A recent Club outing visited Wildwood Garden in Bilpin, with its wonderful perennial beds containing many Salvias, gargoyles and elves, water features and rainforests.
