25.01.2022 Canteen News *The term 2 Menu is also under the Menu tab on this page* Monday 11th May 2020 Dear Parents, Carers and Students,... The Canteen Crew hope that you are all well and you are all excited about returning to school! We know we are. We also cant wait to hear what you have been cooking at home and all the healthy foods that you have been eating! We are pleased to announce that the canteen will be open from Tuesday 12th May 2020. The procedure for phase 1 will be as follows; Complete forms for recess, lunch and/or snack orders at home. Order forms and correct money to be placed in an envelope or zip lock bag. Only students to drop off orders into the container on the canteen bench by 9.00am. All orders will be taken to the classrooms except hot chocolates, frappes and smoothies, the students will need to pick up from the canteen. There will be no over the counter sales at all, at this stage. All order forms are available from the School lobby, the canteen bench, Skoolbag, Class Dojo and the school website. Breakfast club will be closed and there will be no volunteers in the canteen until further notice. In the instance that we might bake special treats we will inform you through our Instagram, P&C Facebook, Class Dojo and Skoolbag. Please be patient with us as there may be changes along the way to suit the needs at that time. Thanks in advance for your understanding The Canteen Crew

24.01.2022 Many Blackheath shops are offering their services, including takeaway and home delivery during the time of Covid19. Its a great way to support us to stay home and help flatten the curve, and also may be the thing that keeps many of our wonderful local businesses afloat for the next few weeks/months. You can find the list of shops offering their services on this page under the Menu tab on the left of the screen (there didnt seem to be any other way to add a file!!). Thanks to Jade at BANC!

22.01.2022 https://youtu.be/w96SrjuWZfA The students, staff and community of Blackheath Public School have been working very hard to do their part to help stop the spread of the Covid 19 viral pandemic. Students and teachers have been practising physical distancing, correct cough and sneeze protocols and of course excellent hand washing techniques as suggested by the World Health Organisation!... Although we have been working so hard, we wanted do more. So some very creative and dedicated teachers and students got together to create a song and video clip to encourage everybody to help stop the spread through the simple act of correctly washing their hands. A big shout out to Australian artist Sia (#siamusic) for the inspiration from her song, Clap Your Hands.

20.01.2022 URGENT: BPS TRAFFIC ISSUES 27 May 2020 Good evening Parents / Carers... Traffic issues Many of you will have noticed the increasing congestion and resultant traffic issues occurring on Wentworth Street, especially in the afternoon. I write to you this evening, to ask you to consider if you are able to park away from school (at the oval for example) and walk up to the school to pick up your children outside of the school gates. We are very grateful that so many parents are respecting the request not to enter the school grounds during this time. However, with so many parents attempting to use the small kiss and drop zone, congestion is becoming very problematic. We are very concerned that someone will get injured. The buses are not able to get through to the bus stop and cars are pulling out onto the wrong side of the road to go around cars waiting for the kiss and drop. Please do not stop on Wentworth Street waiting for a space in the kiss and drop zone. Keep driving the loop around the school until you can pull in and pull out after collecting your children. We will have extra teachers on duty in the afternoon to ensure students are safe until you are able to access the kiss and drop. The kiss and drop zone is NOT a parking area. The school and the P&C have been working tirelessly for many years to improve the parking around the school. We are awaiting a reply from Blue Mountains City Council in regards to these most recent issues. Kind regards Kristin Hardge Relieving Principal

18.01.2022 Great Western Highway Upgrade news Many Blackheathens breathed a sigh of relief on Monday with the announcement by Transport for NSW that the ‘western strategic corridor’ had been lifted from the highway upgrade plans, and that the options for the highway through Blackheath had been limited to a short or long tunnel only. It’s not over yet, though. The proposed short tunnel will take out more than 12 houses and Sutton Park on the southern side of Blackheath, and will likely ...mean huge ventilation stacks close to the entry to the tunnel on that side of town. The long tunnel will result in no loss of houses and no need for ventilation stacks, with the southern entry/exit 300m east of Evans Lookout Rd, and the northern entry/exit out past the weigh station. The community consultation process has reopened from now until Saturday 14th November. Please go online and read all you can about the short and long tunnel options- and have your say. Transport for NSW are also asking for input into (further!) upgrades to the highway through town, given that it is likely that large trucks carrying hazardous materials will likely continue to trundle along the existing road.. Transport for NSW will also hold virtual consultations on Tuesday 20/10 (12.30-1.30pm), Wednesday 21/20 (7-8pm) and Wednesday 28/10 (5-6pm) or you can email ([email protected]), call (1800 953 777) or drop a letter into the Blackheath Community Centre feedback box. https://www.rms.nsw.gov.au//katoo/interactive-portal.html

17.01.2022 Summer uniform order due Monday 17th August with a minimum 50% deposit. Due to Covid-19 we will be operating the uniform shop from the school office on Monday 17th from 8.30am - 9.30am. If you are unable to lodge your order while the shop is open, you will be required to pay at the office with correct amount of cash or cheque, as eftpos is only available when the uniform shop is open.... So pop the 17th in your diary and well see you then! Late orders will not be accepted. Thank you

11.01.2022 Uniform Shop reminder Just a reminder that the current (Covid) process for buying from the uniform shop is to fill in an order form at the front office and provide the exact payment amount (no change can be given). Orders will then be filled on Monday mornings, where stock is available ,and be left at the front office for you to pick up. You will receive a text message when your order is waiting for you. 04.01.2022 Great Western Highway Upgrade Program Update BPS families represent almost a quarter of the population of Blackheath, and our children will inherit the outcome of the decisions made about the proposed upgrade by Transport for NSW. Last week, the Blackheath Co-Design Committee met for the first time with BPS P&C represented on the committee by Ally Drinkwater. If you have ideas, feedback or questions youd like taken to the next committee meeting on June 3rd, please get in touch.
