20.01.2022 One of the hardest but most satisfying achievements so far. BMUP Oh Yeah was a continent to cross but it was worth it. I've never seen such relief and joy on peoples faces. To all the performers and the many helpers, and to all the believers that stuck with us - we did it! What a weekend. Thanks the builders bubble pictured in Jack's restored tojo under John's new Steel Brumbie Totem - Their endless labour was a golden gift indeed. Thank you all. Unf'nbelievable!
20.01.2022 Ah well..as this weekend was BMUP Picnic'20 here's a reminder of what the real world really is and really will be. And don't forget. WE REALLY WILL BE HAVING A PICNIC'20 and OR MIXTAPE"20. At the moment we are focusing on SEPTEMBER 18/19/20 but we might do a special one early if things open up really early. Best regards to all you survivors out there. AND PS to all you ticket holders that kept the faith (which is just about all of you) - you will have first dibs. XXXX
19.01.2022 G’day there BMUP Beemers. IMPORTANT STUFF We are following the COVID checklist in order to do this. PLEASE support us in this regard. It’s been very trying to say the least. ... CAIRNS QLD HEALTH have now categorised us as a Motel/Caravan Park as we will have people camping on the weekend. Therefore we have attached the required paperwork that every family group must fill out for entry. It asks your movements over the previous 2 weeks. Print it out if you can and fill it out on your way otherwise you can imagine the delay on the gate on Friday morning. If in doubt just fill it out. We then have to hold this data for the next few months. We will have the usual spacing requirements, lots of hand washing stations, covid fairies with magic wands measuring 1.5m etc. It's a small gig this year so plenty of space for all. Let’s see how this goes then eh? Gate opens 10am Friday morning. You are welcome to camp in the front paddock Thursday night if you are self contained and well socialised. Please remember to leave the dog at home. Please bring a container to take your camp rubbish home with you. Don’t use our bins. We don’t have capacity for dealing with rubbish. We hate the sight of it. Rubbish hurts and maims. rubbish is rubbish. This year is VOLLEY BALL YEAR. Got a family group team? FOOD - We have 2 wonderful delights in the Paella that everyone always loves and new to BMUP we welcome BEKTOPIA offering gourmet burgers, breakfast rolls, salad bowls as well as vegan and gluten free options. And we also have fine coffee with CAFE ANYWHERE and slushies. STALLS - we have a few, and might I say a few to mention. Clothes, other stuff and clothes. INFO-TENT selling merch is back. We have BMUP shirts, hats, bags and yes..BMUP FACEMASKS. Please bring cash and buy up (no eftpos). We need it this year! DRINKING WATER. Be safe and byo a bottle or 2. Bring a rug to sit your family group on. REMEMBER Picnic ticket holders - bring the 50 dollar top up for the gate. If you are staying Sunday night and have a strange mask (I’m picturing sheep heads or things with antlers or Ronald Reagan masks, or face paint, tin foil hats etc) bring it along. Bewdy...

14.01.2022 G'day there Just a last reminder re the Picnic ticket refund. As we have previously posted, we are doing a small ticket release tomorrow (21/7/20 at 6.06pm https://www.trybooking.com/BKLVE). We will then have be firm on our numbers due to Cook Shire Council and Covid restrictions. The BMUP 2020 gig will be 200 people, go the full time, have an asortment of quality live music on our grassy ampitheartre, some food and clothes stalls, a cricket match, probably the usual Sunday... night Question or Riff. It will be done with the Covid checklist for public gatherings. We have always prided ourselves as festival innovators at BMUP and we shall try and innovate this trickster in a creative way as well. Please remember we have had to raise the ticket price to make it viable with the small numbers, the increased compliance costs and the chance of another complete cancellation after a lot of preparation work. (so bring the cash balance with your Picnic tickets - full ticket price is now $125 ) and please remember we are sticking our necks way out to get this happening. We all know the covid drill now and that drill looks like it will turning for years to come. Lets see how we can turn with it....BMUP 2020 Oh yeah yeah Oh yeahhhh.... If you can't make it and want the Picnic refund just reply to [email protected] before the trybooking release.

02.01.2022 BMUP C19 UPDATE: To Summarise: If you would like your trybooking Picnic ticket refunded just make the request online through trybooking. If you are still game for a possible gig read on.. The new guidelines released yesterday by the Federal and State Governments have made things a (little) clearer. They seem to imply that subject to infection rates, from the June/July school holidays onwards, intra-state travel restrictions will be relaxed and inter-state travel to follow... in mid July. SOBeing a small event we at least have the advantage of a quick turn-on if needed. We have a few possible scenarios but alas it seems the Picnic in mid June is no more.. SOLUTIONS? The Picnic can be delayed as can Mixtape, alternatively both events can merge into a single event using available performers. There will inevitably be drop outs and replacements so the lineup would be very flexible as well. We had an amazing lineup booked for both events this year. We had paid for the flights of most of our performers so we would hope our airlines still credit those cancelled flights. If not that makes things very difficult financially for us. We can delay all the way till October if it looks firm. For Picnic ’20 ticket holders with trybooking you’ve got some options: Leave your tickets and wait and see OR request an online refund through trybooking. If the Picnic gets merged into Mixtape then the ticket will guarantee you an entry - the Picnic ticket price can be credited against the Mixtape ticket price. If this virus makes a sudden rebound we will have to bail and reboot next year. We have to see how the future guidelines go regarding numbers and social distancing. Obviously these would have to be relaxed to a reasonable level. And lastly, to complicate things, here in Cook Shire we have 3 levels of government bureaucracy involved in our ’new’ southern border at Mt Carbine so you can just imagine how that’s going. As an example it took old Smiley 33 days to be allowed home after a brief hospital visit in Cairns???? This is such a disaster for so many people (and yet so many others have been riding high) but it’s our musos, venues and casual workers that have been so uniformly buggered and to be candid it’s really deflated us here at beemup as well. We’ve been tempered by rebuilding after cyclones and years of energy-sapping bureaucratic battles - so this ain’t so bad :). We aim to push through again and keep the candle in the window for live community based music as long as we can. We need the stars to align, the virus to lie down and our bureaucrats/politicians to respond to reason and science Surely thats all possiblebest wishes to you all.
01.01.2022 Here's a special BMUP memory with a special guest on the strat. We all miss him. He brought people together and made the world a happier place. We wouldv'e been playing tonight (saturday) closing the show.
