15.01.2022 EVENT CANCELLED - HALF MOON / FULL MOON Hi Swimmers, Unfortunately the rescheduling of the date, the lock down in Melbourne and a lack of kayakers has caused ...more than 50% of the field to withdraw from the event. The need for kayaker support is a minimum standard for all open water swimming events over 10k for safety reasons. As the number of required volunteers and support crew now exceeds the number of swimmers, the event is no longer viable and we have no option but to cancel it. All swimmers will receive a full refund of their entry fees. We apologise for any inconvenience or disappointment this may have caused. Stay safe, hope to see you all soon. 11.01.2022 BOWS 10 KM SWIM EVENT THIS SUNDAY A reminder to all members that this Sunday 10th January BRYC are hosting the BOWS 10km Marathon Swim Event 7am-midday. There will be a large number of competitors using the change rooms, regatta office, terrace and outdoor areas of the Club. To avoid congestion and keep within our density limits, entry to the changerooms will be restricted to event entrants and organisers. ... BRYC members wishing to access the club for recreational sailing, swimming, paddling are asked to avoid these times, if possible, or to come dressed and ready for your activity. Please avoid the boat ramp in front of the club as this is the entry and exit point for the course and officials will be recording times for this qualifying distance swim. Thank you for your co-operation.

07.01.2022 More sad news today. Glenn Yates, aka Yatesy, Yoda, Bilbo was lost at sea over the weekend on a delivery trip from Tasmania on board his new yacht. After 72 ho...urs, the air and sea search for him was called off. Glenn was an avid OK Dinghy sailor and was one of the most friendly and kind hearted sailors in the fleet. Glenn was well travelled in the OK Dinghy class, making friends worldwide. His many overseas adventures included Poland 2007, Germany 2008, Sweden 2009, Largs 2011, Barbados 2017 and Warnemunde again in 2018, as well as Worlds in Australia. He was well travelled and much loved. OKDIA, and OK sailors worldwide, sends deepest condolences to his family and friends. His presence and humour will be deeply felt and missed by many in the fleet. RIP Glenn Yates

01.01.2022 The Commodore, Flag Officers, members and staff of Sandringham Yacht Club mourn the passing of Yvonne Mrs Willo Williams. An Associate member, Mrs. Willo was ...the loving wife of John and mother of Pete, Michael, Bruce and Elizabeth. While she did not necessarily like yachting herself, she accepted and embraced her family’s love of sailing. A testament to her personality. Yvonne was a loyal friend to many and will be missed by all at SYC. We extend our deepest sympathy to John and the Williams family.
