25.01.2022 We’re closed today for a little bit of maintenance in the shop today- all that boring behind the scenes stuff to get it ready for the busy summer season. We’ve been flat out every day for the last few weeks- just unbelievable- thank you to all the visitors who are coming to our beautiful part of the world, and of course our loyal, wonderful locals who have supported us throughout this year (and the previous four!).

25.01.2022 Sometimes you just need to sit for a moment with some cake and a coffee. This carrot cake with classic cream cheese frosting and walnuts is perfect for the task at hand! Available today along with some other tasty sweet treats. X

24.01.2022 What a day to have off! Perfect weather for pottering in the garden. A reminder that with the change in restrictions we are closed on Mondays now, but open for weekend brunch. X

24.01.2022 CHANGE IN TRADING HOURS From Tuesday the 15th of December, our weekday trading hours will extend to the kitchen being open until 1.30pm (with the cafe closing around 2pm). After Christmas our weekend hours will also extend for lunches on Saturday and Sunday. Thanks for supporting us through this year of crazy opening hours with Covid 19. The early closing has meant Luke has been able to continue refencing most afternoons after the bushfires, and I have been able to replant and tend our garden after losing it almost a year ago! We hope to see you this holiday season. xx

23.01.2022 It’s raining today, and chilly, and we have a hearty soup on the menu to warm your bones for lunch, but yesterday afternoon with a slight blue sky we took a walk and were struck by the beauty of these elms. It was breathtaking with the light filtering through onto the green grass and the constant, background noise of birds. In these tumultuous times it is important to find beauty - and stillness- every day. But we know as well that we are lucky to live where we do, with expanses of nature available out our back door.

15.01.2022 It looks like...... We’re back! Maybe not back to normal, but from Thursday we will have some tables outside for breakfast and lunch, and this weekend - Saturday the 19th and Sunday the 20th of September - we will be open for brunch from 8.00-11.00am. We will have a small number of tables outside, with the ability to EAT IN! We are so excited to be dusting off the ceramic plates and real cutlery to provide our customers with the opportunity to eat at Black Sheep. In Black ...Sheep tradition, we won’t be taking bookings and we ask that every sitting be kept to a 45 minute time frame to allow for more people to enjoy the slight return to normality. Over the weekend we will still have our full take away menu available, but we will also have some additional, exclusive, dine-in brunch options for those who snag a table. 10.01.2022 We normally have two salads on the lunch menu. They’re quick, tasty, and the perfect thing if you’re just looking for something a little lighter and bread free. This is our roasted cauliflower salad, with toasted almonds, paprika roasted chickpeas, tahini honey dressing, leafy greens and red onion. On the menu all week. 10.01.2022 Learn the art of kimchi and the basics of fermenting in this hands on, intimate class at Black Sheep with @andrewdoyouthinkyouare In this class we will walk through the processes of making kimchi, and you’ll take your own jar home, as well as the knowledge of how to make more when you run out! We will taste other fermented foods, drink a little wine, and chat about the history, science and reasoning behind fermenting foods. We will not be replying to emails or messages over that time- we’re just going to enjoy being with our family for a bit. A reminder we do not take bookings. We will announce our New Year’s changes soon on social media and in the shop window. Thank you for all your support this year. We’re really lucky to be part of a community that showed up for us during the lockdowns- and for that we are forever gr...ateful and appreciative. We started the year with bushfires and an amazing outpouring of support through our pay it forward coffee campaign - so a massive thank you to all those who donated. And to all the firies, volunteers, locals, champions who rolled up their sleeves and got the job done, you’re the reason we love living in this community. Thank you, thank you. The support, generosity and community spirit shown after the bushfires demonstrated that even in what has been a hellish year for most, there are little positives, little rays of the most glorious light in even the darkest times. It’s been a tumultuous time and we hope that our loyal, kind, patient customers have a wonderful Christmas, whatever that might look like this year. 08.01.2022 How nice to have a bit of rain! We’ll be out getting some jobs done in the veggie garden while it’s a bit cooler than it has been. From tomorrow, we will no longer be taking pre orders for lunch- via text message or walk in. You can order take away at lunchtime from the counter or sit down for lunch, but we will be putting the phone to bed, along with the ability to choose your pick up time. It has been a real juggle over the past few months while we have been busy in the cafe to be able to keep up with the pre order take aways from the lockdown days. Plus there has been a big decrease in pre orders over the last couple of weeks. Now that we’ll be adding a few more chairs inside, we’ll be operating the kitchen at max capacity. Available from roughly 11.45 onwards. Great heated in the oven for a few minutes with a coffee and a good book on Saturday morning...just saying... x

We've been really busy for lunches since we have had dine in, so we ask that your pre-order lunches need to be sent by 11.30am. Any later and we will give you a pick up time if still possible. We are absolutely open for dine-in breakfast, lunch and coffees, but we DO NOT take reservations. As always, with everywhere at the moment, we ask that you follow government regulations, wearing a face mask (you can take it off to sit down and drink/eat etc), keeping social distance, and waiting outside if you're waiting for a take away order.
