07.01.2022 Lest we Forget. This week it is the 101st Anniversary of the Riverstone and District War Memorial which was officially opened on 8 November 1919 by Robert Bruce Walker, Member of the Legislative Assembly. The memorial is one of the first four war memorials completed in NSW after the end of WW1. The obelisk, which stands in the forecourt of the Riverstone Railway Station, commemorates local veterans who gave their lives during World War I, World War II, and the Korean War. A ceremony for the commemoration and rededication of the Riverstone War Memorial was held on Saturday 9 November 2019. #tbt #throwbackthursday #blacktowncitylibraries #nswpubliclibraries #blacktownmemories
