16.01.2022 NATIONAL PARTY TRIES TO DISQUALIFY ME FROM PARLIAMENT Yesterday, I became the first politician in Australian history to introduce a bill that would force politi...cians to declare their water ownership, and create a register of foreign/domestic companies who own Australian water. Today, SMH reports an anonymous National Party MP (who isn’t John Barilaro) has put me under investigation by the powerful ethics committee because "my family" would benefit financially from the policies I advocate. The same anonymous National MP who tried to stop yesterday's debate from happening. Which policies? My push to have voluntary contributions returned to farmers and reclassify conveyance losses to ensure Murray river farmers get an allocation this year, thus saving the dairy industry from annihilation. The secret Nat MP said my family will get a $1 million windfall from this. He doesn't understand water. If general security allocations are increased to 40 per cent, the price of water would fall. Therefore, my personal wealth would substantially decrease. In fact, everything I’m fighting for would disadvantage me personally. I don’t want water to be scarce and profitable. I want water to be accessible to young farmers who produce our food and fibre. I'm also the only MP who has openly declared my water interests. National Party MPs keep their water licences secret.
