14.01.2022 ? It is that time of the year where the Christmas decorations have been in store for over a month and the social calendar is booking up fast. Now is also the time to have a conversation with your former spouse as to when the children will spend time with both families over Christmas if you do not have existing Court Orders in place. Having the conversation now gives you both time to consider your options, consult with your extended fami...ly to see if the children will also be able to see them over the holiday period or if other arrangements will need to be made. You also have enough time between now and Christmas to continue negotiations if there isn’t an agreement straight away. When talking to your former spouse about Christmas time, also consider these five things: 1. How long it will take to travel between celebrations on Christmas Day. It is unlikely the children want to spend most of Christmas Day in the car. 2. Allow extra time to travel with increased holiday traffic on the roads and double demerits will be in place. 3. Try and balance both sets of family traditions where possible. It is the specific family traditions that make long lasting Christmas memories for the children. 4. How long you and your spouse will have off over Christmas and how much leave you will need to take over the break. 5. The time between the end of school and Christmas Eve may be used to see other family members outside the traditional holiday period. 08.01.2022 _ Once the contract is finalised between the representatives for both parties, all parties to the contract are required to sign the contract. At this point the deposit is payable to the Solicitor or the Agent. The deposit is typically 10% of the sale price. Exchange then can take place. The exchange of contracts is what legally binds both parties to complete the purchase.... In NSW a five day cooling off period after exchange is standard or 10 days for an off the plan contract (for residential land). This allows the purchaser to withdraw from the contract with written notice and recover their deposit from the agent. However the purchaser will be required to pay the vendor 0.25% of the agreed purchase price at this point. 07.01.2022 This is a really difficult time to juggle work commitments, Christmas closures and the five and a half weeks of school holidays (more if your children attend a private school). For separated families there is the added balance of running out of annual leave, who is going to pay for holiday care or which family members can care for the children while both parents are at work.... Court Orders for this long school holiday period vary dramatically. It can be half of the holidays for each parent with a short changeover on Christmas Day or it seems more common this year by consent, was a week about arrangement for the duration of the holidays. Either way, it is best to have a conversation as to how the holiday period will flow now and without your children being present to ensure that any differences in opinion are resolved before the children finish school. This way children will also know what time they will be spending at each household. Reassure your children that you will be more than ok while they spend time with the other parent and you have plans to work or re-charge yourself while your children are spending time with their other parent. If there is an order or agreement for telephone and FaceTime make use of this time to see what your children have been doing and encourage them to continue to enjoy themselves while they are away. 01.01.2022 Hummingbird House Deirdre has played the harp since she was 12 years old in Scotland. After playing the harp to her dying mother in law a few years ago and seeing the soothing and calming effect it had, Deirdre realised that she would like to work with her harp in this intimate manner for others. Deirdre has nearly completed a two year training course called the International Harp Therapy Program to become a registered Harp Therapy Practitioner. The course requires an 80 hour..., 100 bedside visit internship. Deirdre was volunteering her time at Orange Health Service playing her harp for music therapy in the hospital but due to Covid-19 her volunteer work had to stop. Due to the lockdown, Deirdre started a YouTube channel ‘Harp Music for Health’ so she could still reach patients. Orange Health Service was given this link for patients and their families to listen to some recordings when appropriate. The manager of Hummingbird House in Queensland contacted Deirdre about her harp therapy after listening to the harp therapy channel. Deirdre now plays one day a week giving live online sessions to palliative children and their families. Deirdre plays in different modes and improvises within the modes to suit each individual patient’s requirements at each session. The children currently range from 10 months to 16 years old and are at varying stages of their palliative care journey. The Harp Therapy is an ancient art and due to the harp polyphonic [each string vibrates many harmonics at the same time] it can literally change the vibrational atmosphere around and within people when played. Once Deirdre is a registered practitioner she hopes to help patients and their families through the various stages of palliative care locally as well as in different geographical locations.
