17.01.2022 Blackwood CFS has a strong history of protecting our community for 70 years. The recent events in the world, in relation to COVID-19 (Coronavirus), place us in a new scenario for protecting our community. The mantra of the Blackwood has always been, protect yourself first, protect your team second and protect the public next. We are committed to continuing this mindset and, as such, we have made the difficult decision to cancel our 70th celebrations. We hope that you will understand our commitment to our core values of protection and we apologise for any inconvenience this has caused. We are hopeful that we will be able to provide a larger 75th Birthday Celebration in the future.

14.01.2022 Our Volunteer Firefighters from Blackwood CFS have been busy since Tuesday helping our fellow volunteers in Region 3, on the Riverland, with a large fire in Almond Husk Piles. Our crews assisted by utilising our specialist Blackwood 24 CAFS vehicle to suppress and extinguish the piles as they were pulled apart by heavy machinery. CAFS stands for Compressed Air Foam System which is not a new technology but proves highly effective in these types of fires where normal foam systems are not as effective.

07.01.2022 Weve never seen anything like this. What we thought would be a couple of our utes with a few donations to take to those affected by the Cuddlee Creek Fire, turned into this! A non-stop parade of folks donating all manner of things for an hour and a half. We managed to take SEVEN trailer loads, 9 utes and a van full of donations to Nairne Memorial Hall where it will be sorted and distributed to those in need. If any one doubts our community spirit - show them this. This community is amazing. Thank you to all of you who donated today, to everyone who packed items for us and to our members for lending a hand today. And a special thanks to Toby Jones who had the brainwave. Thank you everyone!

05.01.2022 On Friday night we had a huge surprise in the form of one little legend. Jasper had been saving some money that he wanted to give the firefighters. Needless to say, all of us were taken back by this young mans generosity. We have a little something for him to say thanks and we will be paying him a visit very soon. We think we have a firefighter in the making. Thank you Jasper!
